PRESIDENTIAL CUP 2025 BRINGS THRILLING MATCHES, FESTIVE ATMOSPHERE, AND RECORD-BREAKING PRIZES

A week full of action and fighting spirit that proved Indonesian football is ready to take a bigger step forward

The prestigious Presidential Cup 2025 preseason tournament wrapped up after being held from July 6 to July 13, 2025, across two cities: Jakarta and Bandung. The competition delivered exciting matches featuring six teams, including two international clubs, in a more compact yet fiercely competitive format.

This year’s tournament was officially opened by PSSI Chairman Erick Thohir and Steering Committee Chairman Maruarar Sirait at Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium on the evening of July 6. The opening ceremony featured an energetic ball-juggling performance by thousands of students from football schools, a musical appearance by singer Lyodra, and a vibrant fireworks display before the kickoff match between Oxford United and Indonesia All Star.

Unlike previous editions, the 2025 Presidential Cup featured just six teams: Arema FC, Persib Bandung, Dewa United, Indonesia All Star, Oxford United from England, and Port FC from Thailand. These teams were divided into two groups of three. Group A included Oxford United, Arema FC, and Indonesia All Star, while Group B was made up of Persib Bandung, Dewa United, and Port FC.

All matches following the opener, including the third-place playoff and the final, took place at Si Jalak Harupat Stadium in Bandung. Despite having fewer participants than in previous years, the tournament maintained a high level of play and continued to capture public interest.

With a total prize pool of IDR 11.8 billion, this year’s edition set a new benchmark. The winning team earned IDR 5.5 billion, the runner-up received IDR 3 billion, third place was awarded IDR 2 billion, and fourth place earned IDR 1 billion. The fifth and sixth place teams were also recognized with prizes of IDR 200 million and IDR 100 million respectively. This made it the most lucrative edition in the history of the Presidential Cup.

Public enthusiasm was equally impressive. Nearly 20,500 tickets were sold, with strong attendance recorded in both host cities. This overwhelming support demonstrated the tournament’s continued popularity and the special place it holds in the hearts of Indonesian football fans.

Beyond serving as a preseason warm-up before the start of Liga 1, the Presidential Cup 2025 proved once again that Indonesian football has tremendous potential. With every match played and every goal scored, the tournament reflected a spirit of sportsmanship and excellence that contributed to the ongoing growth of football in the country.
