An immersive exhibition inviting visitors to experience space, sensation, and natural phenomena in a more engaging way

Museum MACAN presents Olafur Eliasson: Your Curious Journey, a large-scale solo exhibition marking the Denmark–Icelandic artist’s first presentation in Southeast Asia. On view from 29 November 2025 to 12 April 2026, the exhibition brings together more than three decades of Eliasson’s artistic practice, spanning installations, paintings, and sculptures. This presentation offers Indonesian audiences a valuable opportunity to engage with contemporary art that places experience and perception at the heart of its creative process.

Conceived as a touring exhibition, Your Curious Journey traces the key themes that have shaped Eliasson’s career. At Museum MACAN, the exhibition takes on a distinct form from its previous editions. The spatial layout has been specially developed for the Jakarta context and includes several works presented exclusively in this edition. This curatorial approach broadens the interpretation of the exhibition while introducing perspectives that feel particularly relevant to local audiences.

A central idea in Olafur Eliasson’s work is his understanding of nature as an entity with its own agency. Natural phenomena and objects are not treated merely as things to be observed, but as active elements that engage with human presence. By working with light, water, mist, and invisible forces such as magnetism, Eliasson constructs immersive and ever-changing environments. Within these spaces, form, shadow, sensation, and rhythm continuously shift, creating a sense of movement and life.

These environments invite visitors to refresh their awareness and engage their senses in new ways. Rather than offering a single, fixed interpretation, the exhibition allows room for personal reflection and individual experience. Olafur Eliasson: Your Curious Journey is open to the public at Museum MACAN, West Jakarta, from Tuesday to Sunday, 10.00 am to 6.00 pm WIB. The exhibition presents a reflective and immersive artistic experience, encouraging visitors not only to observe art, but to experience it fully through their senses.
