CAP GO MEH BOGOR STREET FESTIVAL 2026 CELEBRATING CULTURAL HARMONY AND TOGETHERNESS

A vibrant celebration of tradition, color, and unity that brings people together in one unforgettable gathering

The Cap Go Meh Bogor 2026 celebration, an annual event eagerly anticipated by residents and visitors alike, is set to take place on Tuesday, March 3, 2026. The main activities will be centered in the iconic Jalan Suryakencana area in Bogor City. Widely known as the Cap Go Meh Bogor Street Festival CGM Street Festival, the event has grown into one of the largest cultural festivals in Indonesia.

Cap Go Meh falls on the 15th day after the Lunar New Year and marks the closing of the New Year festivities in Chinese tradition. It carries profound meanings of gratitude, hope, and prayers for a better year ahead. In Bogor, Cap Go Meh has evolved into an integral part of the city’s cultural calendar, welcoming people from all backgrounds to participate and celebrate together.

The cultural parade remains the highlight of the CGM Street Festival. The grand procession stretches for approximately two kilometers, from Jalan Suryakencana to Simpang Batutulis. Thousands of performers take part, showcasing liong and barongsai performances, the traditional joli procession, and a diverse range of Indonesian and Bogor cultural arts.

One of the most highly anticipated attractions is the sacred Tandu Toa Pe Kong procession, carried respectfully by its bearers. Visitors can also enjoy traditional Chinese performances alongside Indonesian cultural arts such as jaipongan, reog, and ondel ondel, as well as cross ethnic cultural costume parades. This collaboration reflects the spirit of diversity that defines Cap Go Meh Bogor, transforming it into a people’s festival that embodies harmony within diversity.

In 2026, the CGM Street Festival will be held during the second week of Ramadan. As a result, the parade is scheduled to take place from the afternoon into the evening, in consideration of the holy month. Adjustments to the program content are also being made to ensure the event remains appropriate and respectful.

Beyond the main parade, a variety of supporting activities will further enliven the celebration. The Cap Go Meh Bogor 2026 MSME Bazaar will once again bring energy to the Suryakencana area, featuring a wide selection of local products and culinary offerings. The concept includes ngabuburit culinary experiences, a Ramadan bazaar, and designated performance spots leading up to the time of breaking the fast. The organizing committee is also planning to introduce a drone show as a new attraction to enhance the overall visitor experience.

Free and open to the public, the CGM Street Festival continues to affirm its role as an inclusive community celebration. By blending Chinese traditions with Indonesian cultural arts, Cap Go Meh Bogor 2026 once again creates a vibrant cross cultural gathering space that reflects the enduring spirit of togetherness in Bogor City.
