JAKARTA E-PRIX 2025: SPECTACULAR INTERNATIONAL ELECTRIC CAR RACE LIGHTS UP ANCOL

A thrilling fusion of speed, innovation, and music ignited the heart of the city

The international electric car championship, ABB FIA Formula E World Championship or Formula E, made its return to Jakarta on June 21, 2025. The 13th race of the 11th season was successfully held at the Jakarta International E-Prix Circuit (JIEC) in Ancol, North Jakarta, marking an exciting event that blended world-class racing, entertainment, and the promotion of electric vehicle innovation.

Formula E has earned its reputation as the world’s leading single-seater electric car series since its debut in Beijing, China, in 2014. Unlike traditional racing, Formula E takes place on street circuits set in the heart of major cities, highlighting cutting-edge technology and eco-friendly, sustainable concepts.

Indonesia became part of Formula E history on June 4, 2022, when the Jakarta E-Prix was held for the first time. That inaugural race was not only a success but also set a record as the most-watched Formula E race in the country, with a cumulative audience of 27.6 million people. The following year, Jakarta hosted a double-header race on June 3 and 4, 2023, further strengthening its presence on the global racing map.

After taking a break during season 10, Formula E returned to Jakarta this year with 11 teams and 22 drivers competing for crucial championship points. The challenging Ancol street circuit once again attracted attention as one of the most iconic tracks in the Formula E calendar, delivering thrilling moments for motorsport fans.

Beyond the racing action, Jakarta E-Prix 2025 also showcased performances from some of Indonesia’s top music acts. Spectators at the circuit were treated to entertainment by Andre Taulany n Friends, JKT48, Dewa 19, Dipha Barus, and Maliq & D’Essentials. This combination of sport and music enhanced the event, making it both a family-friendly celebration and a platform for promoting clean energy and sustainability.

Since season 11, Formula E introduced a new element called Pit Boost, a mandatory 30-second pit stop for rapid energy replenishment of 3.85 kWh. Current Formula E cars can reach speeds of up to 322 km/h with a maximum power output of 300 kW (402 bhp).

The Jakarta E-Prix 2025 concluded with great success, leaving a lasting impression and reinforcing Jakarta’s status as a premier destination for global electric racing.
