DEBUT OF W BUDAPEST :INNOVATIVE FUSION OF HISTORY AND MODERNITY IN LUXURY
W Budapest: Revolutionary Fusion of History, Innovation, and Luxury. Stunning design, eclectic dining, and cosmopolitan ambiance create an unforgettable experience for young luxury travelers.
The hospitality industry has undergone significant transformation in recent decades. One of the pioneering brands in bringing modern and luxurious touches to hospitality is W Hotels Worldwide, located in the historic Drechsler Palace, formerly the home of the Ballet Institute. In 1998, the brand was launched as part of the global Marriott Bonvoy portfolio, which includes 31 exceptional hotel brands. In 2023, W Hotels proudly announced the highly anticipated launch of W Budapest in Hungary, with a determination to be a revolutionary force for the city, featuring innovative design, eclectic dining options, and a social spirit inspired by the cosmopolitan atmosphere of the capital. W Budapest represents the advanced evolution of W Hotels, offering outstanding design in a high and elegant yet fun environment that naturally connects young luxury travelers with the local ambiance.
This venue is located on Andrássy Avenue, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the city's most prestigious luxury shopping street. W Budapest offers 151 stylish guest rooms and suites, along with three innovative restaurant concepts influenced by Budapest's rich history, creativity, and cultural diversity. As the capital and largest city of Hungary, situated on the Danube River, Budapest boasts an extraordinary historical heritage and stunning views. The city is divided into Buda on the west side of the river and Pest on the east side, connected by several amazing bridges, including the Chain Bridge and the Margaret Bridge. Budapest has become a popular destination for travelers seeking architectural wonders, cultural experiences, and natural landscapes.
One of the main attractions of W Budapest is its bold design that reflects the duality of tradition and innovation, history, and modernity. The hotel combines classic Hungarian architectural elements with fresh contemporary touches. The public spaces and guest rooms are adorned with local art and art installations, creating an impressive visual experience for guests.
As interior designers, Bowler James Brindley from London and Bánáti + Hartvig from Hungary have meticulously restored Drechsler Palace. Their inspiration comes from its rich cultural history and its dual identity as a café, social center, and Hungarian State Ballet Academy. The result is a captivating design narrative, creating spaces that reveal new depths with each visit. An interesting element of the design is the "second skin" concept, combining Buda and Pest with delightful contrasts through soft layers and metal mesh, offering a unique experience for visitors. Further design inspiration is drawn from the grandeur of French Renaissance architecture, evident in various parts of the city. The modernization of the design is based on a palette of green, coral, and deep blue, complemented by contemporary Zsolnay tiles, stained glass features, and jewelry-inspired lighting.
W Budapest also brings about change in the city's culinary scene with three attractive restaurants that foster connections with the local community. Nightingale by Beefbar, the flagship restaurant, is led by renowned entrepreneur Riccardo Giraudi. A branch of Beefbar, it offers a unique dining experience that introduces Asian flavors with fresh touches and iconic Beefbar dishes. Executive Chef Fabio Polidori designed a social menu with small dishes meant to be enjoyed with friends. Signature dishes include crispy carpaccio with chipotle sauce, yellowtail sashimi with truffle yuzu sauce, and the tempting Miss Bao with caramelized banana and delicious black chocolate sauce. The bar at Nightingale by Beefbar offers creative cocktails such as the Nightingale Boulvardier and Budapest Calling, based on gin and sweet wine.
By blending these diverse elements, the hotel has successfully created a unique atmosphere that combines Hungarian history and culture with modern and visionary design. The transformed Drechsler Palace, now W Budapest, has become an attractive destination for travelers to explore and enjoy unforgettable experiences in Budapest.
