On Thursday, May 28, 2026, PT. Java Festival Production hosted the myBCA International Java Jazz Festival Gala Dinner at the Zurich Ballroom on the 7th Floor of Swissôtel Jakarta PIK Avenue. The dress code was Black and White. The start time was 18:30. The occasion was 21 years of one of the largest jazz festivals in the world.

Twenty-one years of music, memories, and meaningful connections. For more than two decades, the festival has been a home for world-class artists and passionate fans to come together in celebration of music. The Gala Dinner was the evening that marked that milestone before the festival itself began.

What the Gala Dinner Was and Why It Exists

The Gala Dinner is not a public event. It is an invitation-only evening organized by PT. Java Festival Production for the people whose involvement with the festival has made it what it is: partners, sponsors, artists, press, and the network of people who have kept Java Jazz running for 21 years and counting.

The reason it exists is both practical and ceremonial. Practically, it gives the festival's closest stakeholders a moment together before the energy of three public days absorbs everything. Ceremonially, it is the formal opening of the festival weekend, the moment PT. Java Festival Production thanks the people in the room for being part of the journey before inviting thousands more through the gates the following morning.

The evening included live performances, among them Novia Bachmid, whose appearance at the Gala Dinner the night before her myBCA Stage performance the following day made her one of the artists who opened both the private and the public chapter of Java Jazz Festival 2026. On Day 1, she would go on to perform alongside Dira Sugandi, Monéva, and Ruth Sahanaya in the Y2K Rewind collaboration with Harbourside Jazz, one of the most celebrated sets of the festival's opening night on the myBCA Stage.

The venue choice was deliberate. Swissôtel Jakarta PIK Avenue sits in the same PIK corridor as NICE PIK 2, the festival's new home from 2026 onwards, after more than a decade at Jakarta International Expo Kemayoran. The Gala Dinner at the Zurich Ballroom on the 7th floor, with its Black and White dress code and its 18:30 start, was the formal opening chapter of a weekend that would go on to fill 10 stages across three days.

Why This Edition's Gala Dinner Mattered More Than Most

The 21st edition of Java Jazz Festival carried a weight that previous editions did not. Not just the number, though 21 years is significant enough, but the context around it. This was the first year at a new venue. The first year at NICE PIK 2 in Tangerang, after more than a decade at Jakarta International Expo Kemayoran. The first year with the full myBCA branding as title sponsor at this scale. The first year with an international access angle built into the venue choice itself.

As CEO Dewi Gontha described it at the March 2026 press conference: the 21st edition opens a new chapter with fresh energy, a new venue with better international access, and a commitment to delivering a world-class festival experience.
