BUILDING BRIDGES: PRESS CONFERENCE FOR THE LAUNCH OF THE 75TH ANNIVERSARY OF FRANCE-INDONESIA RELATIONS
Celebrating 75 years of diplomatic harmony, paving the way for new collaborations across culture, art, and science toward a closer future
On Wednesday, December 11, 2024, a press conference was held at Wisma Prancis Jakarta to launch the celebration of 75 years of diplomatic relations between France and Indonesia. Attended by numerous journalists, this event marked the beginning of a series of collaborative programs to take place throughout 2025.
History and Development of Bilateral Relations
Diplomatic relations between France and Indonesia were officially established on January 4, 1950. Since then, cooperation between the two countries has continued to grow, encompassing various strategic areas such as politics, economy, security, education, culture, and environmental protection. The signing of a strategic partnership on July 1, 2011, became a significant milestone in strengthening these relations.
The commitment to deepen bilateral partnerships was reaffirmed during recent meetings between the President of the French Republic, Emmanuel Macron, and the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto. The 75th-anniversary celebration aims to further introduce the cultures and potentials of both countries while fostering closer exchanges between the civil societies of France and Indonesia.
Launch of Programs and the Anniversary Logo
During the press conference, the French Ambassador to Indonesia, Fabien Penone, presented several key programs scheduled for 2025. Additionally, the official logo commemorating the 75th anniversary of France-Indonesia diplomatic relations was unveiled, symbolizing the close and enduring partnership.
Next year’s series of events are designed to strengthen cultural, artistic, and scientific ties between the two nations. Particular attention is given to French figures who have built cultural bridges with Indonesia for over a century, as well as Indonesian artists and scientists who draw inspiration from French culture.
Discussions with Contemporary Artists and Scientists
The event also featured several Indonesian artists, creators, and scientists who shared their experiences collaborating with French partners. These discussions highlighted how cross-cultural collaboration enriches both nations and fosters a greater understanding and exchange of knowledge.
A Historic Moment for the Future
This launch marks an important milestone in celebrating 75 years of France-Indonesia diplomatic relations. The programs planned throughout 2025 are expected to further strengthen ties between the two nations and inspire future generations to continue fostering productive and harmonious collaboration.
