DISCLOSURES EXHIBITION: ART UNVEILS GLOBAL PERSPECTIVES AT BAIK ART RESIDENCY (B.A.R.)
Explore 'Disclosures' at Baik Art Residency, a captivating exhibition by Tintin Wulia, unraveling global narratives through art and innovation
In the spotlight of Baik Art Residency (B.A.R.), the exhibition "Disclosures" by the talented artist tintinwulia takes center stage. This showcase, hosted at @baikartgallery Jakarta from January 10th to February 24th, 2024, promises an immersive journey into the realms of globalization, geopolitics, and personal narratives.
Baik Art Jakarta joyfully presents the "Disclosures" exhibition by Tintin Wulia. As an Indonesian-Australian artist, Tintin's work contemplates globalization and geopolitics, unraveling and exposing them through personal stories. With over 20 years of research, she delves into histories narrated by the world's dominant voices, scrutinizing their blind spots and systemic inequities, retelling them from unconventional perspectives. Tintin's reinterpretation brings the past powerfully into the present, placing it within the voices from the periphery. Her works decode, reinterpret, and represent history, guiding us towards a more socially just future.
Aaron Seeto's reflections from December 2023 aptly capture the essence of Tintin's recent projects: "What Tintin's recent projects offer is essential context, shedding light on the interconnectedness between national events and the influence of external forces. These works unveil how these forces have shaped the socio-political contours of modern Indonesian history. Tintin Wulia brilliantly establishes a dialogue between the personal and political, between hidden histories and communal memory, and between the banality of everyday life and the extraordinary events that shape it."
This gallery not only commits itself to building enduring global partnerships but also endeavors to curate fresh and engaging experiences for its audience. Past recipients of the residency program not only attest to this commitment but also embody B.A.R.'s vision to explore inclusive practices and foster innovative thinking within a fair and globally rooted artistic community.
Running in parallel with the "Secrets" exhibition at RMIT Gallery, Melbourne, "Disclosures" forms a carefully curated narrative. Both exhibitions align with Tintin's artistic research project at the University of Gothenburg titled "Protocols of Killings: 1965, distance, and the ethics of future warfare," funded by the Swedish Research Council (2020-02828), and enjoy collaborative support from various institutions. Immerse yourself in the thought-provoking world of "Disclosures," where perspectives unfold and history comes to life.
