Enchanted the audience with a performance brimming with light and movement, delivering a captivating and immersive theatrical experience

French artist Yannick Stasiak, along with his theater group *Compagnie Entre Les Fils*, recently concluded their puppetry and theater tour across several Indonesian cities from October 22-31, 2024. Yannick, a passionate puppeteer dedicated to the performing arts, has been involved in theater and puppetry since 2013. He began his education at the Conservatory of Amiens in France, then continued his studies at the University of Stuttgart in Germany. In 2017-2018, he received an Erasmus scholarship at the University of Dramatic Arts in Prague, Czech Republic. These international experiences have enriched Yannick’s artistic journey, helping him gain recognition as an artist who enjoys experimenting and collaborating with performers from diverse disciplines.

During this tour, Yannick showcased his latest work, Fragile, a puppetry performance created in collaboration with Compagnie Marionnettes d'Angoulême from France in 2022. Fragile told the story of birth, or perhaps rebirth. “Fragile is... A story of birth... or perhaps rebirth. Light emerging in darkness... A creature evolving in space, searching for its form and place,” Yannick explained. The performance beautifully combined movement, light, and shadow, with a central object – a sphere – that could represent an egg, an eye, or even a head. This sphere transformed and adapted its shape according to the time and space in which it existed, creating a dynamic and meaningful visual experience for the audience.

The Compagnie Entre Les Fils tour began in Surabaya, where they held a workshop on October 22 and performed on October 23, 2024. Following Surabaya, the group traveled to Yogyakarta from October 24-27, where they participated in various intensive programs, including a workshop on October 25. Their visit to Yogyakarta coincided with the 9th Pesta Boneka festival, organized by Papermoon Puppet Theatre from October 23-27, 2024. The performance in Yogyakarta took place on Saturday, October 26, at 2:00 PM WIB. Afterward, the tour continued to Bandung for a workshop on October 28 and a performance on October 29, before concluding in Jakarta with a workshop on October 30 and a final performance on October 31.

Fragile was a 40-minute theatrical experience featuring impressive lighting and sound, suitable for audiences of all ages. The performances in Surabaya (October 23), Bandung (October 29), and Jakarta (October 31) were free to attend, offering a unique opportunity for the public to experience innovative puppetry theater.

Through Yannick Stasiak and Compagnie Entre Les Fils’s visit to Indonesia, the tour provided a rare chance for the public to enjoy cutting-edge puppetry and theater while fostering a deeper understanding of intercultural collaboration in the performing arts.
