A vibrant celebration that fuses rich musical heritage with the unique charm of local culture

Aceh Percussion 2025 returns as a vibrant stage that showcases the rich diversity of Acehnese percussion instruments. Taking place from August 22 to 24, 2024, in the Sultan Malikussaleh area, Gampong Beuringen, Samudra Subdistrict, North Aceh, this festival reflects the strong commitment of the Aceh Government and the North Aceh Regency Government to preserve cultural heritage while promoting local tourism.

As part of the 2025 Kharisma Event Nusantara (KEN) program by the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy of the Republic of Indonesia, Aceh Percussion embraces both educational and collaborative approaches. This year’s focus is to raise awareness about the importance of safeguarding traditional percussion instruments. More than just a spectacle, the event offers opportunities for learning, interaction, and reconnecting with cultural roots.

The festival features a series of dynamic and meaningful programs. Saweu Gampong and Saweu Sikula invite local communities and students to engage directly with traditional Acehnese percussion instruments. Meuramien brings together percussion artists from across Aceh to present collaborative performances that reflect cultural harmony.

Meuseuraya highlights an exhibition of percussion instruments, showcasing the cultural wealth of Aceh. Meutuah offers appreciation for individuals dedicated to preserving traditional music. The main event, Peukateun Raya, delivers an impressive series of performances featuring Acehnese, national, and international percussion traditions. Peukan Raya adds further excitement with a creative bazaar that supports local micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises.

The festival also includes historical exhibitions, cultural film screenings, and art performances, all carefully curated to create a rich and immersive cultural experience. These elements reinforce Aceh Percussion’s role as both a cultural celebration and a platform for creative economic growth.
