THE 17TH DENPASAR FESTIVAL: CELEBRATING CREATIVITY AND BALI'S CULTURAL RICHNESS

End the year with vibrant energy, color, excitement, and unforgettable memories

Denpasar is currently hosting the much-anticipated 17th Denpasar Festival, taking place from December 22 to 25, 2024. This annual event is one of Bali's largest creative festivals, organized by the Denpasar City Tourism Office. This year's theme, "Ngarumrum Kertalangu: Kilau Denpasar," reflects the happiness and prosperity of the people, as well as Denpasar's identity as a cultural city with a rich heritage.

The 2024 Denpasar Festival adopts an Open Space and Street Festival concept, transforming the Gajah Mada Heritage Area into a vibrant hub of activity. Over the course of four days, the festival is showcasing a wide range of arts and cultural performances, captivating not only tourists but also people of all ages—from children to adults. Various creative communities, art studios, and youth organizations from Denpasar are actively participating in the event, presenting traditional Balinese arts such as karawitan, babalihan, sendratasik, as well as contemporary art.

In addition to the traditional arts, the festival is also featuring energetic modern music performances. The grand opening, which combined classical and contemporary art, left a lasting impression on visitors. This event serves as a platform for local artists to present their works to the public, offering a stage for the creative expression flourishing in Denpasar.

A key highlight of the 17th Denpasar Festival is the presence of 168 Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (UMKM) showcasing their finest products. Visitors are enjoying a wide variety of Balinese cuisine and exploring an array of craft products, coffee, fashion items, and unique goods from various sectors. Each UMKM booth is adorned with distinct Balinese cultural elements, enhancing the festival's lively and colorful atmosphere.

This year, the UMKM booths have been designed to be more weather-resistant, using semi-permanent materials and plywood for sturdier walls and roofs, ensuring comfort for visitors despite the rainy weather from previous years.

Alongside the art performances, the festival is offering a variety of workshops and competitions for visitors of all ages to participate in. From art workshops to creativity contests, these activities are designed to enhance skills, promote local arts and culture, and encourage the community to engage and grow creatively.

Running daily from 9:00 AM to 10:00 PM WITA, the Denpasar Festival continues to captivate visitors with the vibrant energy of Denpasar city. Don't miss the opportunity to immerse yourself in the spirit and beauty of Balinese culture, expressed throughout the Denpasar Festival. Witness the creativity and excitement that will make your year-end celebrations unforgettable with family, friends, or colleagues.
