JF3 FASHION FESTIVAL EXPANDS ITS INTERNATIONAL NETWORK THROUGH STRATEGIC COLLABORATION IN SOUTH KOREA

A forward-driven creative movement that connects cultures, empowers designers, and strengthens Indonesia’s presence on the global fashion stage

JF3 Fashion Festival strengthens its strategic initiative to elevate Indonesia’s presence in the international fashion arena through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with the Busan Metropolitan Government. The agreement was signed by the Mayor of Busan, the Chairman of JF3 Fashion Festival, and the President of the Busan Textile and Fashion Industry Association, marking an important milestone in the fashion and creative industry relationship between Indonesia and South Korea.

This MOU establishes a foundation for long-term collaboration that includes knowledge exchange, designer development programs, and sustainable business opportunities across Asia. Through this step, JF3 expands its reach and ensures Indonesia’s growing recognition within the regional fashion landscape.

Indonesia’s Presence at Busan Fashion Week 2025

As part of its practical implementation, JF3 Fashion Festival brought three Indonesian fashion creators to take part in Busan Fashion Week 2025 on 30 October 2025. The participation continued with a Mini Trunk Show at Lehans, Seoul, on 31 October 2025, and at the HiSeoul Showroom from 1 to 3 November 2025. The three curated designers representing the fresh direction of Indonesian fashion were LAKON Indonesia, Hartono Gan, and Ernesto Abram.

LAKON Indonesia showcased the collection titled URUB, a visual story of transformation through refinement. The collection presents a modern interpretation of traditional Indonesian embroidery and weaving, blending handcrafted details with calm and distinctive contemporary silhouettes.

Hartono Gan highlighted experimental tailoring and architectural construction in his designs, illustrating the strength of structure combined with modern Asian sensibilities. Ernesto Abram introduced a collection filled with romantic and free expressions, using soft colors, organic volumes, and textures that convey honest and artistic personal narratives.

JF3’s involvement in these events reflects the festival’s broader vision, Recrafted: A New Vision, which drives Indonesian creativity and craftsmanship toward global acknowledgment. Its presence in Busan is not only a platform for showcasing collections but also a strategic effort to strengthen industry connections and open opportunities for cross-country collaboration.

“We want to expand the meaning of expansion. For us, it is not only about appearing on stage but about building a shared foundation for the future,” said Thresia Mareta, Advisor of JF3 Fashion Festival and Founder of LAKON Indonesia.

Building an Asian Creative Network

JF3’s initiatives in South Korea continue the festival’s commitment to reinforcing Indonesia’s position at both regional and global levels. Over the past four years, JF3 has developed several international collaborations, including with France, and is now extending its network to South Korea.

JF3 believes that Asia holds significant potential to become a global center of creativity, supported by culture, craftsmanship, and innovation. The collaboration with Busan is an important step toward shaping a future-oriented creative network across Asia, where creativity serves as a shared language for economic and cultural advancement.

“We believe that collaboration is the new form of competition. Indonesia and Korea share the same spirit, honoring cultural heritage while embracing innovation,” said Thresia Mareta. “JF3 aims to serve as a bridge so that this collaboration does not end on the runway, but continues through meaningful and sustainable partnerships.”
