A vibrant celebration of tradition, flavors, and community in Solo City's annual culinary extravaganza

To commemorate the 52nd anniversary of the PKK (Family Welfare Movement) and to infuse vitality into Solo City's 279th anniversary, the City Government presents the grand Solo Legend Culinary Festival 2024. Running from February 29th to March 3rd, 2024, this event takes center stage at Solo City Hall.

This culinary extravaganza boasts an array of captivating activities, ranging from showcases of regional culinary gems, exhibitions of traditional delicacies, culinary competitions, to the solo culinary family fun walk. With over 60 culinary booths, the festival proudly exhibits Solo City's culinary diversity and traditional fare from across the archipelago.

In addition, the Solo Legend Culinary Festival offers a glimpse into the past with a traditional kitchen complete with antique cooking utensils. The objective of this exhibition of time-honored dishes is to preserve the legacy of traditional cuisine, which forms an integral part of Solo's cultural heritage.

A highlight of the event is the creative food arranging contest, known as the serabi plating competition. This contest provides a platform to showcase innovation in presenting Solo's distinctive cuisine.

Moreover, the festival is abuzz with various other engaging activities, including a competition to craft Solo salad among PKK mothers and serabi among high school, vocational school, and university students in Surakarta. Notably, the B2SA competition is organized by the PKK Solo Movement Team, further enriching the festivity of this culinary celebration.

The pinnacle of the event on March 3rd, 2024, is the Solo Culinary Family Fun Walk, attracting 3,000 participants. Participants not only relish the family stroll but also stand a chance to win enticing door prizes. The grand prizes total 502, featuring electric bikes, android phones, washing machines, gas stoves, water dispensers, cookware sets, bedding, health pillows, electric irons, cleaning tools, shelving units, gift packages, and essential groceries.

Through the Solo Legend Culinary Festival 2024, the Solo City Government not only honors the richness of traditional cuisine but also nurtures unity and pride in the cultural heritage of the Solo community. It is hoped that this festival will continue to be a highly anticipated annual affair for Solo residents and visitors alike.
