SYNCHRONIZE FESTIVAL 2025 CELEBRATES A DECADE WITH THE SPIRIT OF “SALING SILANG”
A decade of sound and vision converges into a festival where creativity, collaboration, and culture ignite boundless energy
Jakarta is preparing once again to host one of the country’s biggest music celebrations. Synchronize Festival 2025 will be held from October 3 to 5 at Gambir Expo Kemayoran, North Jakarta. For three days, this national multi-genre music festival will showcase hundreds of musicians from different generations across six stages.
Since its first edition, Synchronize Festival has grown into more than just a music event. Over the past decade, more than 700,000 people have enjoyed performances by 5,000 musicians. Its success has involved no fewer than 30,000 workers, supported by hundreds of sponsors and covered by over 10,000 media outlets. The festival proves that music is not simply entertainment, but a collective energy that strengthens the creative ecosystem.
To mark its tenth year, Synchronize Festival 2025 adopts the theme “Saling Silang.” Inspired by the Roman numeral X, which symbolizes ten, the theme reflects a meeting point across eras, genres, and ideas. This vision is brought to life through collaborations with ruangrupa, a Jakarta-based contemporary art collective celebrating its 25th anniversary, and demajors, the independent record label that founded the festival.
The collaboration also introduces an art exhibition at Hall D2 JIEXPO, where music and visual arts merge to create a new universe. More than 20 art collectives will take part, including Taring Padi from Yogyakarta, Jatiwangi Art Factory from Majalengka, Forum Sudut Pandang from Palu, Komunitas KAHE from Maumere, and Indonesia Art Movement from Jayapura. Their participation highlights how the spirit of “saling silang” is expressed in real cross-medium practices.
On the music front, Synchronize Festival stays true to its tradition of presenting a carefully curated lineup that does not depend on algorithms or short-lived trends. Hundreds of musicians will represent Indonesia’s musical diversity, from mainstream pop, dangdut, and rock to experimental sounds. Renowned acts such as Hindia, JKT48, Silampukau, Jamrud, Shaggydog, Padi Reborn, and Polka Wars feat. Alahad will take the stage. Audiences can also expect special collaborations including Anisa Bahar with Juwita Bahar, Idgitaf Ngamen Sore-Sore, and Avhath with Kuntari, each delivering a unique experience.
Three signature stages of Synchronize Festival will return this year. OLENG UPUK will feature experimental and electronic music with performances from Dubyouth, Kasimyn, and Maft Sai from Thailand. PANGGUNG GETARRR will present grassroots and alternative dangdut acts such as Asep Balon and Orkes Nunung Cs. Meanwhile, the GIGS STAGE, curated by Extreme Moshpit, will showcase heavy bands like Final Attack, Negatifa, and Iron Voltage, with live streaming available on Extreme Moshpit’s YouTube channel.
With its spirit of bridging generations, genres, and mediums, Synchronize Festival 2025 promises to be not only a vibrant celebration of its first decade, but also a meaningful contribution to Indonesia’s creative ecosystem.
