FESTIVAL 5 LAKES 2025 A CELEBRATION OF NATURE, CULTURE, AND CREATIVE ECONOMY IN SOLOK REGENCY

Stunning landscapes meet timeless traditions and vibrant local creativity

Solok Regency in West Sumatra is preparing to once again draw the attention of visitors with Festival 5 Lakes 2025, which will be held from October 9 to 11, 2025. This annual celebration highlights the beauty of Solok’s five iconic lakes, Lake Singkarak, Lake Diatas, Lake Dibawah, Lake Talang, and Lake Aie Batumbuak, while also showcasing the richness of Minangkabau culture.

The festival offers more than breathtaking natural scenery. It also highlights the arts, traditions, and creativity of the local community. With the involvement of 74 nagari across Solok Regency, the festival plays an important role in introducing regional potential and supporting the local economy through contributions from small businesses, artists, and culinary vendors.

A key highlight is the Arak Bako Nagari Tikalak Traditional Parade, an ancestral procession filled with values of unity, kinship, and respect for heritage. This parade is expected to attract thousands of visitors from both within and outside the region, offering an authentic and memorable cultural experience.

The festival will be filled with diverse cultural and entertainment activities. Visitors can enjoy traditional dances, Minangkabau music, local culinary exhibitions, and traditional fashion shows. The community of Nagari Tikalak will take center stage with their active involvement in preparations, including decorations, costume making, and organizing the ceremonial procession.

The series of events began on September 18, 2025, with the Singing Competition at Solok Nan Indah, showcasing the talents of local performers. The festival will reach its highlight on October 9 with the Arak Bako Traditional Parade, followed by cultural performances, culinary showcases, and tourism attractions until October 11.

In addition to the main events, the festival features unique programs such as Malamang Siarang 1000 Batang, Mangicok Perai with free lamang siarang distribution, video and photo competitions of the five destinations, a sambal lado competition representing 74 nagari, the Biduak Nagote attraction, and Turun Ka Banda or Bakaua. Visitors can also join offroad adventures around Lake Ateh, Lake Dibawah, and Lake Talang for an exciting journey through stunning landscapes.

The central events will be hosted at Lake Singkarak, specifically in Nagari Muaro Pingai, Junjung Sirih District, while all five lakes will be part of the celebration. Each lake will offer different cultural attractions, giving visitors a variety of experiences that blend natural beauty with Minangkabau traditions.

Festival 5 Lakes 2025 will be further enlivened by performances from national artists and influencers, aiming to extend its appeal to a wider audience. With its cultural wealth, community involvement, and spectacular natural charm, the festival promises to be a must-visit event and a remarkable representation of Solok Regency’s tourism potential.
