
COMMEMORATING THAILAND'S NATIONAL DAY: STRENGTHENING COOPERATION WITH INDONESIA
A special moment that strengthens harmony, forging ahead in the strategic partnership between the two nations
The celebration of the Birthday Anniversary of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej The Great, the National Day of the Kingdom of Thailand, and the Thai Father’s Day brought together prominent figures at the St. Regis Jakarta on December 4, 2024. Among the attendees were Indonesia’s Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Airlangga Hartarto, the Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives, the Minister of Tourism, numerous ambassadors, and the hosts, The Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand, H.E. Mr. Prapan Disyatat and Ms. Rutchanee Uerpairojkit and The Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Thailand to ASEAN, H.E. Mrs. Phantipha Iamsudha Ekarohit and Mr. Chayan Ekarohit.
During the occasion, the bilateral relationship between Indonesia and Thailand took center stage. The two nations have long maintained close collaboration in various strategic sectors, ranging from trade to cultural exchange. Coordinating Minister Airlangga Hartarto highlighted the significant progress achieved through Indonesia-Thailand cooperation across various fields.
"A strong bilateral relationship, based on mutual respect and shared values, has fostered collaboration in trade, investment, security, education, and culture," Airlangga stated. He also commended Thailand's leadership in the Digital Economy Framework Agreement (DEFA), which is expected to bring economic benefits to all ASEAN member countries.
Additionally, both nations are working toward membership in BRICS and the OECD, aiming to strengthen the position of developing countries in international cooperation. "This membership not only benefits both nations but also enhances South-South cooperation and contributes positively to global development," Airlangga emphasized.
Indonesia and Thailand continue to solidify their close bilateral ties, creating opportunities to explore new avenues of collaboration in various strategic sectors. With new leadership in both countries—a new President in Indonesia and a new Prime Minister in Thailand—both nations are committed to expanding their partnership within the ASEAN region.
The event concluded with hopes for further development of Indonesia-Thailand bilateral relations, accompanied by a shared commitment to explore new opportunities for collaboration in strategic sectors. With fresh leadership in both nations, the future of the Indonesia-Thailand partnership looks increasingly promising.
