INDONESIA WELCOMES ASIA’S TOP FUTSAL TEAMS AT AFC FUTSAL ASIAN CUP 2026
A intensity futsal event bringing together Asia’s top teams, world-class venues, and thrilling matches
Indonesia is set to take center stage in Asian futsal with the AFC Futsal Asian Cup 2026 scheduled to take place in Jakarta. The continent’s most prestigious futsal tournament will be held from January 27 to February 7, 2026, bringing together 16 of Asia’s top men’s national futsal teams, including the Indonesia national futsal team.
To support the tournament’s international scale, Indonesia has prepared two world-class indoor arenas located within the same city. The use of dual venues highlights the country’s readiness in terms of infrastructure and organization to host a major futsal event at the Asian level.
Indonesia Arena, located within the Gelora Bung Karno complex in Senayan, Central Jakarta, has been selected as the main venue. With a seating capacity of 16,500 spectators, the modern indoor arena is set to host several key matches, including the opening fixture and the final. Its state-of-the-art facilities and large capacity are expected to create an ideal atmosphere for both players and fans throughout the tournament.
The Jakarta International Velodrome in Rawamangun, East Jakarta, will serve as the second competition venue. The arena, which accommodates up to 8,500 spectators, is a legacy site from the 2018 Asian Games and has since been adapted to meet the international standards required by the Asian Football Confederation. These upgrades ensure the venue is fully equipped to host high-level futsal matches during the championship.
The Indonesia national futsal team, known as Garuda, will begin its campaign in Group A. Indonesia is scheduled to face South Korea in the opening match at Indonesia Arena on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. WIB. The group also includes Kyrgyzstan and Iraq, with the four teams competing for two spots in the quarterfinals.
The AFC Futsal Asian Cup 2026 features four groups in total. Group B consists of Thailand, Vietnam, Kuwait, and Lebanon. Group C brings together Japan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Australia. Group D includes Iran, Afghanistan, Saudi Arabia, and Malaysia. At the conclusion of the group stage, the top eight teams will advance to the knockout rounds.
This edition marks the 18th staging of the AFC Futsal Asian Cup and the second time Indonesia has hosted the tournament, following its successful edition in 2002. Coming off a historic gold medal victory at the 2025 SEA Games in Thailand, the Indonesia national futsal team enters the competition with strong momentum. Beyond the competition itself, the tournament offers Indonesian fans the opportunity to support their national team directly on home soil.
