INDONESIA AND SINGAPORE CELEBRATE 79TH INDEPENDENCE ANNIVERSARY WITH DIPLOMATIC ELEGANCE

The Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Singapore recently celebrated the 79th Anniversary of Indonesia's Independence with a distinguished diplomatic reception at the Shangri-La Hotel. Held on a Thursday, this grand event highlighted the enduring friendship and collaboration between Indonesia and Singapore, with Singapore’s Minister for Sustainability and Environment, Grace Fu, gracing the occasion as the guest of honor. The reception brought together members of the diplomatic community, senior officials, and leading business figures, reflecting the strong bilateral ties between the two nations.
Indonesian Ambassador to Singapore, Suryo Pratomo, commenced the event with a speech that underscored the importance of the anniversary. He conveyed that the celebration not only marks a significant milestone for Indonesia but also reaffirms the robust relationship with Singapore. Ambassador Pratomo highlighted the resilience of their partnership, noting that despite shifts in leadership, the foundational policies and cooperative spirit between the two countries remain steadfast.
Ambassador Pratomo praised the vibrant economic connection between Indonesia and Singapore, citing impressive investment figures and a steady increase in bilateral trade. He pointed out that Singapore remains a major investor in Indonesia, with investments totaling USD 8.9 billion in the first half of 2024 alone. Beyond economic ties, Ambassador Pratomo also emphasized the expanding cultural, educational, and research exchanges between Indonesia and Singapore.
