JAKARTA OPENS A NEW CHAPTER AS HOST OF THE SPECTACULAR FIA RALLYCROSS WORLD CUP 2026

Jakarta is ready to welcome elite drivers and the thrilling debut of wheel-to-wheel racing action

The Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) has officially confirmed Jakarta as the host city for the FIA Rallycross World Cup 2026. Scheduled for December 5–6, the event marks a significant milestone for motorsport development in Southeast Asia.

Being chosen as the host reflects not only the international community’s confidence in Indonesia’s infrastructure and organizational capabilities but also represents a historic moment. This will be the inaugural FIA Rallycross World Cup and the first time rallycross takes place in the region, highlighting FIA’s strategy to expand motorsport to emerging markets with growing fan bases.

The competition will take place at the Jakarta International E-Prix Circuit in Ancol, North Jakarta. Previously known for electric car racing, the circuit will undergo specialized modifications to suit rallycross, featuring a mix of asphalt and gravel surfaces that offer unique technical challenges for drivers.

Rallycross is known for its fast-paced, wheel-to-wheel racing, where drivers compete directly on a single track in short, intense heats. In the 2026 World Cup, top international drivers will race in Euro RX1 cars powered by internal combustion engines, engineered for rapid acceleration and durability across varied track conditions.

This format differs significantly from the World Rally Championship (WRC). While WRC relies on time trials across open-road stages with changing surfaces, rallycross emphasizes head-to-head duels on a closed circuit. This direct competition creates a highly dynamic and thrilling experience for spectators, as every race unfolds in real time.

The event is also a strategic opportunity to strengthen Indonesia’s position on the global motorsport stage. With world-class facilities and a passionate fan base, Jakarta provides the ideal setting to showcase rallycross to a wider audience. It is also expected to draw international visitors and attention toward the end of 2026.

As preparations continue, motorsport enthusiasts and the public can follow the latest updates through FIA Rallycross’s official channels. The FIA Rallycross World Cup 2026 promises to be a landmark event for Indonesia, ushering in a new chapter in international racing while boosting the global exposure of the national automotive industry.
