WONDERFUL INDONESIA AWARDS 2025: HONORING COLLABORATION AND NATIONAL TOURISM EXCELLENCE
A national celebration that spotlights shared achievements, innovation, and dedication shaping the future of Indonesia’s tourism industry
The Ministry of Tourism has once again reaffirmed its commitment to advancing high quality tourism in Indonesia through the organization of the Wonderful Indonesia Awards (WIA) 2025. The awards night serves as a platform to recognize tourism stakeholders who have made tangible contributions to the development of a sustainable and highly competitive national tourism sector.
As its inaugural edition, Wonderful Indonesia Awards 2025 stands as a moment of appreciation for innovators, regional leaders, industry players, community groups, and outstanding tourism destinations from across the country. The event also reflects a strong spirit of cross sector collaboration, which has become a vital foundation for the continued growth of Indonesia’s tourism industry.
In the Most Inspiring Tourism Leader category, awards were presented to Jambi Governor Al Haris, Banyuwangi Regent Ipuk Fiestiandani, and Surakarta Mayor Respati Achmad Ardianto. These leaders were recognized for their roles in driving tourism development within their respective regions. Meanwhile, the Local Hero in Tourism category honored Muhammad Ikhwan AM from South Sulawesi, Ritno Kurniawan from West Sumatra, and Rudi Hartono from West Kalimantan for their active and meaningful contributions at the community level.
Sustainability emerged as a key highlight of the awards. In the Sustainable Hotel category, recognition was given to both five star and four star hotels that consistently apply environmentally friendly practices while maintaining high service standards. Mandarin Oriental Jakarta received the Gold award in the five star category, while Novotel Suites Yogyakarta Malioboro earned Gold in the four star category. In addition, the Green Event of the Year award was presented to Jazz Gunung Bromo 2025, recognizing its commitment to environmental preservation.
Other accolades included Key Figure in Event Industry awarded to Dewi Gontha, The Most Collaborative Co Brand awarded to PT Grab Teknologi Indonesia, Partner of the Year awarded to Tiket.com, and The Most Collaborative Tourism Village Partner awarded to PT Bank Central Asia Tbk. At the destination level, Desa Wisata Hijau Bilebante in Central Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara, was named the Best National Tourism Village.
Wonderful Indonesia Awards 2025 took place amid strong positive performance in Indonesia’s tourism sector. As of October 2025, international tourist arrivals reached 12.76 million, while domestic tourist trips recorded nearly 998 million journeys, representing a significant increase compared to the previous year. More than 150 international awards earned over the past year further reinforce Indonesia’s growing recognition on the global tourism stage.
Through WIA 2025, the Ministry of Tourism emphasizes that the progress of Indonesian tourism is driven by collective efforts, continuous innovation, and strengthened service quality, while opening new momentum to move confidently toward the future.
