PSSI AWARDS 2026: CELEBRATING 95 YEARS OF INDONESIAN FOOTBALL
PSSI Awards 2026 marks its debut after 95 years, honoring Indonesian football figures who have excelled and inspired.
After a 95-year wait, Indonesian football finally has a prestigious platform for recognition through the PSSI Awards 2026. Held at Studio 6 Emtek City in West Jakarta, the event stands as a significant milestone in the nation’s football journey, bringing together a night of appreciation for players, coaches, and the many individuals working behind the scenes who have contributed to the sport’s growth.
Attended by Minister of Youth and Sports Erick Thohir and legendary figures of Indonesian football, the event was not only a celebration of achievement but also a reflection on the long journey of Indonesian football toward a higher level.
Why PSSI Awards 2026 Is a Historic Moment
As the first award ceremony dedicated specifically to Indonesian football figures, PSSI Awards 2026 carries meaning far beyond competition. It represents recognition for dedication, hard work, and contributions that may not have always received widespread attention.
With a total of 17 categories divided into performance awards and special recognition awards, the event sets a new benchmark in appreciating national football talent.
More than simply identifying the best performers, the awards highlight those who make a real impact, inspire the next generation, and drive the continued progress of Indonesian football.
Main Highlight: Jay Idzes Named Player of the Year
The highlight of the evening came when Jay Idzes was announced as Player of the Year. The captain of the Indonesian national team delivered consistent performances throughout the season and played a central role in the Garuda squad’s defensive line. He outperformed strong contenders such as Rizky Ridho, Kevin Diks, Calvin Verdonk, and Yakob Sayuri. This achievement reinforces Idzes’ role not only as a defender but also as a leader on the field. His ability to maintain team stability was a key factor in the panel’s decision.
Goalkeeper Excellence and Emerging Young Talent
The goalkeeper position also drew significant attention at PSSI Awards 2026. Maarten Paes was named Best Goalkeeper after delivering consistently strong performances throughout the season. He surpassed notable names such as Emil Audero, Ernando Ari, and Nadeo Argawinata.
Despite this, Emil Audero still stood out by winning the Save of the Year award, highlighting the high level of quality among Indonesian goalkeepers today.
At the same time, the future of Indonesian football looks promising, with Marselino Ferdinan earning the Young Player of the Year award.
Recognition for Women’s Football and Inspiring Figures
PSSI Awards 2026 also highlighted women’s football and inspirational figures within the sport. Safira Ika Putri was named Women’s Player of the Year, while Claudia Scheunemann received the Women’s Young Player of the Year award.
The Legend of the Year award was presented to Tan Liong Houw, a prominent figure from the 1950s who played an important role in Indonesia’s football history.
Meanwhile, the Supporter of the Year award was given posthumously to Mas Katon as a tribute to his dedication and passion in supporting Indonesian football.
