A remarkable milestone in international weightlifting as Indonesia’s rising athlete gains global recognition through record breaking lifts

Indonesian weightlifter Rizki Juniansyah has once again achieved a remarkable milestone on the international stage. The young athlete from Serang, Banten has officially been recognized by the Guinness World Records as the holder of two world records. This recognition follows his outstanding performance at the 2025 SEA Games held in Thailand.

As part of the official acknowledgment, the Guinness World Records certificate was presented to Rizki during a ceremony at Bulldog Gym in Cipocok Jaya, Serang, Banten, in late February 2026. The moment of the award presentation was also shared through the official Instagram account of Guinness World Records Indonesia.

During the competition at the 2025 SEA Games, Rizki set two world records in the men’s 79 kilogram weight class. The first record was for the highest total lift in the category, while the second record was for the heaviest clean and jerk lift in the same class. These achievements also secured him the gold medal at one of Southeast Asia’s largest multi sport events.

In the competition, Rizki opened his performance with an impressive snatch lift of 160 kilograms, the highest among the participants. He then completed the event with a clean and jerk lift of 205 kilograms. With these results, Rizki recorded a total lift of 365 kilograms in the final round, ensuring his victory in the competition.

This accomplishment further strengthens Rizki’s position as one of Indonesia’s leading weightlifters on the international stage. Born on June 17, 2003, he has already collected numerous achievements from major championships across Asia and the global arena.

One of the most significant milestones in his career occurred at the Paris 2024 Olympics, where Rizki won a gold medal in the 73 kilogram category. The achievement also made him the youngest Indonesian gold medalist in the sport of weightlifting.

Rizki also delivered a strong performance at the 2025 IWF World Weightlifting Championships with a total lift of 361 kilograms. During the competition, he recorded a clean and jerk lift of 204 kilograms in the 79 kilogram category. Earlier, he also secured the championship title in the 73 kilogram category at the 2024 IWF World Cup.

Other notable achievements include a gold medal at the 2023 SEA Games in Cambodia and another gold medal at the 2021 Islamic Solidarity Games held in Turkey. These accomplishments demonstrate Rizki’s consistency in maintaining strong performances across various international competitions.
