PERAHU KERTAS MUSICAL LIGHTS UP THE STAGE WITH A MOVING STORY OF DREAMS AND IDENTITY

A stage story filled with emotion and the courage to rediscover hop

The Perahu Kertas Musical is currently running at Ciputra Artpreneur, Jakarta, and will continue until 15 February 2026. Presented by Trinity Entertainment Network in collaboration with Indonesia Kaya and the Trinity Youth Symphony Orchestra TRUST, the production adapts the acclaimed novel Perahu Kertas by Dee Lestari into a stage performance. Since its premiere on 30 January, the musical has been scheduled for a total of 21 performances and has drawn positive audience responses on both weekdays and weekends.

Under the theme Revive Dreams Once More, the musical invites audiences into an emotional journey of self discovery, acceptance of loss, and the courage to pursue dreams that were once set aside. The story follows Kugy and Keenan, two young individuals connected by their artistic nature but divided by how they express it. Kugy retreats into fairy tales as a refuge from reality, while Keenan, a talented young painter, struggles to break free from his father’s expectations in order to find his own creative voice.

The narrative of Perahu Kertas resonates deeply with many audiences, making it relevant across generations. Its adaptation into a musical marks a significant milestone for Dee Lestari, as this is the first time her work has been transformed into a musical theatre production. On stage, the relationship between Kugy and Keenan unfolds through gradually building conflicts, filled with reflective and emotional moments, while preserving the simplicity that defines the story’s core.

With a running time of approximately three hours, the production combines theatrical performance, orchestral music, and choreography that closely follows the emotional rhythm of the narrative. The music is composed by Ifa Fachir and Simhala Avadana, with musical direction by Nathania Karina and arrangements by Ivan Tangkulung. The presence of the Trinity Youth Symphony Orchestra adds depth to the performance, guiding the audience through each phase of the characters’ lives.

Creatively, the musical is crafted by an experienced team led by Venytha Yoshiantini as director and choreographer, with Widya Arifianti as the musical scriptwriter. The production is overseen by Executive Producer Yonathan Nugroho, alongside producers Billy Gamaliel, Eunike Elisaveta, and Chriskevin Adefrid.

As Trinity Entertainment Network’s first venture into musical theatre, the Perahu Kertas Musical serves as a meeting point for literature, music, and live performance. Throughout its ongoing run, the production encourages audiences to reflect on life choices, reconnect with their inner voice, and revive dreams that may have been left behind.
