JAKARTA RUNNING FESTIVAL 2025: CELEBRATING THE CITY’S SPIRIT THROUGH STEPS AND TOGETHERNESS

A dynamic convergence of passion, movement, and culture that captures the unstoppable heartbeat of Jakarta

Jakarta once again captures the world’s attention with the Jakarta Running Festival (JRF) 2025, which officially begins today, October 23, and runs until October 26, 2025, at Istora Senayan, Central Jakarta. This international annual running event, organized by PT Kelompok Lari Anak Bangsa (KLAB), returns for its second edition following the remarkable success of the 2024 debut, which attracted more than 16,000 participants from across Indonesia.

Carrying the spirit of unity and an active urban lifestyle, JRF 2025 upholds international safety standards through the World Athletics Label Road Race certification for the Half Marathon (21.097 km) and Marathon (42.195 km) categories. This recognition marks another milestone for Jakarta, underscoring its growing capability to host world-class sporting events.

This year’s festival brings together more than 27,000 runners from 45 countries, including around 1,000 international participants. The event has received full support from the Provincial Government of DKI Jakarta as part of its ongoing mission to strengthen the city’s position among the world’s leading global cities, as highlighted in the Kearney Global Cities Index.

Taking place at the Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) Complex, JRF 2025 features a scenic route that passes through several of Jakarta’s most iconic landmarks, such as the National Monument (Monas), the HI Roundabout, and the city’s main business districts. Each stride taken by the runners reflects a celebration of diversity, enthusiasm, and the vibrant pulse of the capital city.

JRF 2025 presents five main race categories designed for participants of all ages and abilities. The Taro Junior Dash invites children aged 4 to 12 to run distances between 100 and 400 meters. The Samsung Galaxy 5K offers a fun and family-friendly five-kilometer experience, while the Le Minerale 10K challenges more seasoned runners with a two-hour time limit. For those seeking greater endurance, the wondr Jakarta Half Marathon covers 21.097 km, and the Hydroplus Marathon, spanning 42.195 km, stands as the ultimate test with a maximum completion time of five hours.

Beyond the races, JRF 2025 features a Race Expo and Cheer Zone that highlight Jakarta’s cultural diversity and dynamic community spirit. Through these programs, participants and visitors alike can immerse themselves in the city’s creative energy while enjoying the festive atmosphere surrounding the event.

With stronger organization and cross-sector collaboration, the Jakarta Running Festival 2025 stands as more than just a sporting event. It embodies the city’s pride, energy, and progress—a powerful reminder that Jakarta continues to stride forward as an active, inclusive, and globally competitive metropolis.
