Since its official return on March 11, 2025, at the Lyric Theatre, Hadestown has continued to captivate audiences and has now been extended through February 15, 2026. The musical presents a modern take on two legendary love stories from Greek mythology: the romantic, obstacle-filled journey of Orpheus and Eurydice, and the dynamic relationship between Hades and Persephone. It fuses contemporary American folk music with the emotionally resonant sounds of New Orleans-style jazz.

Directed by Tony Award-winner Rachel Chavkin and written by Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Anaïs Mitchell, Hadestown premiered at the National Theatre in 2018 before achieving major success on Broadway, where it won eight Tony Awards—including Best Musical—and a Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album. The show returned to the UK last year, earning three nominations at the WhatsOnStage Awards.

The production's latest run at the Lyric Theatre features a stellar new cast. Desmonda Cathabel takes on the role of Eurydice, with Victoria Hamilton-Barritt as Persephone and Chris Jarman as Hades. Cedric Neal plays Hermes, while Dylan Wood reprises his role as Orpheus. Supporting them are Allie Daniel, Melanie Bright, and Lauran Rae as the Fates, alongside a dynamic ensemble and swing cast that bring richness and energy to the performance.
