INDONESIA ART MOTORING II: A SOPHISTICATED BLEND OF ART, AUTOMOTIVE HERITAGE, AND LIFESTYLE
A seamless blend of nostalgia, innovation, and urban style, creating an experience full of character and visual appeal
The exhibition Indonesia Art Motoring II, themed Motion and Reflection, is currently underway from August 1 to 8, 2025, at the Four Seasons Hotel in Jakarta. Hosted by the Indonesia Classic Car Owners Club (ICCOC), this event offers a distinctive combination of visual art, classic automobiles, and cultural values driven by a spirit of preservation and creative innovation.
Founded in 2007, ICCOC is a well-regarded community of classic car enthusiasts dedicated to preserving and promoting Indonesia’s rich automotive legacy. Their efforts go beyond restoring vehicles to a high standard—they also aim to reconnect people with the historical and artistic significance of classic motoring, inspiring both current and future generations.
Building on the success of the first Indonesia Art Motoring exhibition held at the National Gallery Jakarta in 2011, ICCOC now presents a grander second edition. Motion and Reflection brings together 30 carefully selected classic cars displayed alongside 30 works of art, featuring both two-dimensional and three-dimensional creations. The exhibition also includes interactive and kinetic pieces from talented artists based in Jakarta, Bandung, Yogyakarta, and Bali.
The theme Motion and Reflection highlights the connection between automotive design and human expression—how movement, craftsmanship, and cultural identity intersect. In a broader global perspective, the evolution of automobiles is not only tied to technological progress but also to artistic design that mirrors the culture and ideals of its era. The term "classic" in this context refers not to age alone but to the timeless value of originality and authenticity.
Attracting both local and international interest, the event welcomes ambassadors from neighboring nations and countries with strong automotive histories. One of the highlights is a Concours d’Elegance segment, showcasing vehicles that embody beauty, rarity, and originality.
With this second installment of Indonesia Art Motoring, ICCOC aspires to make a meaningful contribution to revitalizing the tourism sector and strengthening Indonesia’s creative economy. This includes empowering small and medium enterprises within the interconnected worlds of automotive lifestyle and artistic expression. The exhibition reflects the belief that art and automotive culture are not separate entities but complementary forces that help shape national identity.
Indonesia Art Motoring II is more than just an exhibition of vintage cars and artistic works. It is a thoughtful space that bridges the past, present, and future through design, creativity, and interdisciplinary collaboration. This remarkable event places Jakarta on the map as a vibrant hub for global art, automotive heritage, and contemporary lifestyle.
