DISCOVER INDONESIA MORE DEEPLY WITH THE GOOD TRAVEL WITH MARRIOTT BONVOY PROGRAM

Explore Indonesia’s culture, communities, and adventures through meaningful, curated experiences.

Travel today is no longer just about moving from one place to another. It has become an opportunity to understand the culture, communities, and environment of the destinations we visit. Through the Good Travel with Marriott Bonvoy program, Marriott International offers meaningful experiences that allow guests to connect more closely with the places they explore. In Indonesia, this program provides 20 unique experiences across 15 hotels in three distinctive destinations.

Marriott Bonvoy members are invited to embark on more purposeful journeys by participating in activities that highlight local culture, community empowerment, and environmental conservation. The program is designed so that guests are not merely visitors but active contributors during their stay.

John Toomey, Chief Commercial Officer of Marriott International for the Asia Pacific region, explained that the Good Travel with Marriott Bonvoy program reflects the company’s commitment to creating meaningful experiences. According to him, today’s travelers seek journeys with intention and want to understand the unique character of the destinations they visit. The program also strengthens Marriott’s mission to connect people through travel while supporting local communities and the environment.

Indonesia plays a vital role in this initiative. With 20 experiences available, the country ranks second in the APEC region outside of China for both the number of experiences and participating properties, with 15 hotels involved. Notably, Indonesia leads in community-focused experiences, offering 13 activities centered on cultural preservation, local livelihoods, and social impact, while seven experiences focus on environmental conservation.

Ramesh Jackson, Regional Vice President for Indonesia & Malaysia at Marriott International, emphasized that Indonesia’s strong presence highlights the growing interest in responsible travel. With such a diverse collection of experiences, Indonesia continues to establish itself as a destination for travelers seeking deeper connections and meaningful engagement with the places they visit.

The Good Travel with Marriott Bonvoy program is built on two pillars: Community and Environment. These pillars encourage travelers to engage authentically with local communities while making a positive contribution to the environment.

Guests can enjoy a wide range of experiences across participating hotels. In Ubud, Bali, they can experience daily life in local communities, stay with local hosts, and learn sustainable Balinese cooking traditions. These activities showcase culinary practices that emphasize zero-waste principles while maintaining harmony between people, food, and nature.

In Kuta, guests can explore Balinese culture through Wayang Ental, a traditional shadow puppet art made from palm leaves. This interactive session allows participants to learn basic puppet-making techniques while understanding the stories and moral lessons behind the art form.

Other hotels offer cultural and spiritual experiences unique to Bali, such as creating canang sari offerings, learning the traditional herbal healing ritual Boreh, and exploring the UNESCO-recognized Subak irrigation system. Culinary experiences also play a key role, from guided market-to-table journeys to tasting traditional beverages like jamu and bandrek.

Environmental conservation is equally emphasized. Guests can take part in coastal clean-ups to reduce plastic waste, plant corals with conservation specialists, and learn how to turn organic waste into compost that benefits local ecosystems.

All experiences in the Good Travel with Marriott Bonvoy program are exclusively designed for guests at participating hotels. Through this thoughtful collection of activities, travel becomes not only an enjoyable experience but also a meaningful journey that deepens understanding and contributes positively to communities and the environment.
