ART SG 2025: BUILDING AN INTERNATIONAL ARTS HUB IN SINGAPORE

Immerse yourself in a vibrant celebration of contemporary art, where creativity knows no boundaries and transforms into a dynamic global experience

ART SG, Southeast Asia’s premier international art fair, is set to return for its third edition in Singapore from January 17 to 19, 2025. Renowned as one of the region's most dynamic art fairs, ART SG will feature over 106 exhibitors from 30 countries, providing a unique platform to showcase contemporary artworks from around the world. The event will take place at the Sands Expo and Convention Centre, Marina Bay Sands, and is anticipated to be a highlight of Singapore Art Week 2025, an annual celebration of the city’s vibrant visual arts scene.

Singapore’s Significant Role in the Global Art Landscape

Magnus Renfrew, Co-Founder of ART SG, expressed his excitement about the growth of the arts in Singapore, especially as the nation celebrates its 60th anniversary of independence. He remarked, “In the past six decades, art appreciation in Singapore has grown rapidly.” As a strategically located regional hub, Singapore holds great potential to become a center for art exchange in Southeast Asia. ART SG collaborates with visionary partners such as Bangkok Kunsthalle, Delfina Foundation, M Art Foundation, and Art Outreach, enhancing the program and boosting the fair's international appeal.

Notable International Galleries at ART SG 2025

The fair will feature several prestigious names in the international art scene, including Gagosian, White Cube, Thaddaeus Ropac, and Lehmann Maupin. The participation of these leading galleries highlights their confidence in the thriving Singapore art market. Their presence also encourages interaction among collectors, artists, and galleries, positioning ART SG 2025 as a crucial catalyst for strengthening the global art network.

Curatorial Programs and Cultural Partnerships

ART SG is also partnering with four key cultural organizations focused on nurturing the Southeast Asian art ecosystem. Notably, Bangkok Kunsthalle, under the direction of Stefano Rabolli Pansera, will present ART SG FILM. This program will feature thought-provoking films, video art, and moving images, providing a platform for diverse contemporary artistic practices under the theme “By Artists, On Artists.” Attendees can engage with artistic explorations through three chapters: “Building Landscapes,” “Voices and Signs,” and “Ruins and Memories,” offering fresh perspectives on contemporary art.

The Delfina Foundation, a leading organization from London led by Aaron Cezar, will host discussions on the philosophy, psychology, and politics of art collecting. This event will highlight the critical role of collectors in advancing the development of art in Southeast Asia and beyond. Additionally, the M Art Foundation, based in Hong Kong and Singapore, will present a series of programs centered on contemporary art aspirations.

Art Outreach, a visual arts organization in Singapore, will convene an art conference featuring experts such as Alessio Antoniolli from Triangle Network London and Dr. Zoé Whitley from Chisenhale Gallery. This collaboration aims to provide valuable insights into the evolution of visual arts in Southeast Asia.

Exploring Art in Depth

Tay Tong, Director of the Arts Ecosystem Group, emphasized that ART SG is a vital part of Singapore Art Week. He stated, “This fair supports Singapore’s transformation into a global art destination, bridging diverse artistic expressions.” ART SG not only attracts international collectors but also offers visitors exclusive opportunities to enjoy gallery and museum openings, private collection visits, and unique culinary art experiences.

Support from partners such as The Hour Glass, AXA XL, and Marina Bay Sands as the Official Hotel Partner enhances ART SG 2025. The addition of new partners like Porsche and MORNING further amplifies the excitement surrounding the event.

With a vision to establish Singapore as an international arts hub, ART SG 2025 solidifies its role as an essential platform for artists and collectors alike. The collaboration between local and international galleries, along with backing from leading cultural partners, transforms this exhibition into more than just an art showcase; it becomes a forum for contemporary art's evolution in Southeast Asia. For art enthusiasts, ART SG 2025 promises to be an unforgettable experience that deepens their understanding of the dynamic global art landscape.
