THE LANESBOROUGH UNVEILED EXCLUSIVE COLLECTION OF EQUESTRIAN ARTWORKS BY BRITISH PHOTOGRAPHER RIPLEY IN COLLABORATION WITH THE HOUSEHOLD CAVALRY

A stunning exhibition of equestrian artwork by renowned photographer Ripley at The Lanesborough Hotel.

London, June 26, 2023 - The Lanesborough, a renowned luxury hotel in London, was thrilled to announce its latest artistic partnership with esteemed fine art photographer and artist Ripley. The hotel's iconic Great Hall played host to a remarkable exhibition of Ripley's equestrian artworks, featuring the Household Cavalry, from June 15th to 17th, 2023. Following the Royal Ascot event, the exhibition returned from June 26th to July 6th, 2023.

Ripley's awe-inspiring collection comprised twelve large-scale portraits capturing the soldiers from The Life Guards and the Blues and Royals, along with their majestic horses, against the backdrop of London's most iconic buildings, spanning from Trafalgar Square to Canary Wharf. Among the notable artworks was a breathtaking image taken from The Lanesborough, showcasing Wellington Arch and Apsley House, the Duke of Wellington's London residence. This particular piece featured The Corporal Major of the Blues and Royals with the Sovereign's Standard.

Art enthusiasts and admirers of Ripley's work had the opportunity to acquire these remarkable prints, which were available for purchase as individual pieces priced between £19,000 and £25,000, or as a complete collection (price on application). Additionally, a boxed set of twelve prints at a smaller size was offered. Notably, 50% of the profits from the limited editions were donated to The Household Cavalry Foundation, which ensured the well-being of operational casualties, veterans, dependents, retired horses, and upheld the Cavalry's rich heritage.

Ripley's artistic process involved the use of high-resolution digital composite photography, resulting in breathtaking large-scale prints that exhibited remarkable detail and clarity. While Ripley specialized in working with Thoroughbred Racehorses, his latest collection showcased his masterful ability to capture the essence of the equestrian world, reminiscent of the equine master painters of the past.

The esteemed artist's portfolio included notable works such as the portrait of 'Estimate,' which he created for Queen Elizabeth II in 2016. 'Estimate,' a beloved horse owned by the late Queen, achieved victory in the Gold Cup at Royal Ascot in 2013, further solidifying Ripley's reputation as a highly skilled and sought-after artist.

To celebrate this extraordinary collaboration, The Lanesborough hosted two ticketed events, offering art enthusiasts and guests a chance to engage with Ripley and his magnificent masterpieces. Priced at £25 per person, the events included a glass of champagne and canapés, a private viewing of the artworks, and an opportunity to meet Ripley and gain insight into his inspirations. The events took place on Thursday, June 15th, and Monday, June 26th, 2023.

The Lanesborough's partnership with Ripley marked an exciting chapter for art enthusiasts and admirers of equestrian aesthetics alike. The exclusive opportunity to witness the beauty and craftsmanship of Ripley's artworks, while supporting The Household Cavalry Foundation and its invaluable work, was not to be missed.
