A powerful display of endurance and commitment as national digital creators take on one of the world’s most celebrated racing stages
The prestigious Tokyo Marathon 2026 took place in Japan on Sunday, March 1, 2026. Covering a distance of 42.195 kilometers, the race brought together tens of thousands of runners from around the world. The course began at the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building and concluded at Tokyo Station, offering participants a challenging yet memorable experience through the heart of the capital.
This year, several Indonesian public figures drew attention with their participation. Many shared their journey on social media, highlighting the dedication and commitment required to complete the full marathon distance. Some achieved personal best times, while others celebrated the meaningful accomplishment of simply reaching the finish line after an intense physical and mental test.
Indonesian participation in the Pocari Sweat Carbo Loading Tokyo Marathon 2026 series was supported by an energy drink producer, enabling eight young influencers to take part in the event. The group included Iqbal Saputra, Agus Prayogo, Andrew Gunawan Tandiari, Irvin Iskandar, Aulia Fathurrahman, Erika Richardo, Angga Yunanda, and Jerome Polin Sijabat.
Among them, Erika Richardo, Angga Yunanda, and Jerome Polin competed in the Full Marathon category. For all three, this was their first attempt at a full-distance marathon after committing to consistent training since November. Their preparation played a crucial role in helping them tackle the demanding 42.195-kilometer course, which required both physical endurance and strong mental resilience.
Jerome Polin completed the race while vlogging, showing his ability to balance running with documenting his experience. Erika Richardo reached the finish line in 5 hours and 46 minutes, marking a significant personal achievement. Angga Yunanda also demonstrated determination throughout the race, supported directly by his wife. Although his knees trembled as he approached the finish, he remained focused and crossed the line with perseverance.
Supported by the same sponsor, the three runners also shared moments of camaraderie during the event. Their participation reflected not only competitive spirit but also friendship and mutual encouragement along the way.
For Indonesian runners, taking part in this international marathon was a valuable experience. Beyond individual accomplishments, their involvement offers insights into improving the quality of national sports, particularly in organizing world-class marathon events. Strong management, sponsor collaboration, and active public participation are key elements that can help strengthen Indonesia’s running ecosystem.
Ultimately, crossing the finish line and earning their medals symbolized dedication, discipline, and determination. Tokyo Marathon 2026 was more than a global sporting event; it became a meaningful platform for stories of persistence and achievement.
