The Westin Resort Nusa Dua, Bali welcomes Sander Looijen as its new general manager, a highly accomplished hospitality expert. With a remarkable background in the industry, Sander brings extensive experience and a fresh perspective to the resort. Sander possesses exceptional skills in people management, honed through years of experience. His expertise extends beyond team leadership to encompass brand execution, strategic planning, and a keen eye for culinary trends and food and beverage concept development, which will elevate the dining experiences within the resort. Additionally, his proficiency in event management ensures that the adjacent Bali International Convention Centre will continue to exceed expectations.

Sander's journey with Marriott International began in 2002 as a management intern with The St. Regis Shanghai. Driven by consistency and a passion for the food and beverage industry, he embarked on an impressive career that led him to hold positions in various esteemed Marriott International hotels across the Asia Pacific region.

In 2012, Sander assumed the role of Director of Restaurants & Bars for Marriott International in the Asia Pacific region. As he oversaw the food and beverage operations of a portfolio of over 100 hotels, his leadership and expertise propelled him to new heights. Subsequently, he was appointed Area Director of Operations in South Korea, where he fostered operational excellence and growth within the region. Sander's dedication was further demonstrated when he became the General Manager of Renaissance Phuket Resort & Spa, resulting in numerous accolades, including being recognized as one of the top 20 hotels in Thailand for luxury and service.

In his most recent venture as Cluster General Manager at Sheraton Hong Kong Tung Chung Hotel and Four Points by Sheraton Hong Kong Tung Chung, Sander showcased his leadership skills and dedication. He successfully provided extraordinary guest experiences, leading to the property being awarded "Hotel of the Year 2021" for the Greater China region and "Best New Hotel" by Ctrip. He also established the complex as a renowned drinking and dining hotspot in Hong Kong.

Sander's exceptional contributions were honored with the prestigious GM Mustang Award - Greater China in 2020, a testament to his outstanding performance. He was also recognized as the 2017 General Manager of The Year by Marriott International - Asia Pacific and the 2009 Events Leader of The Year by Marriott International – Asia Pacific, solidifying his reputation as an esteemed leader in the hospitality industry.

Aligned with The Westin Resort Nusa Dua, Bali's wellness philosophy, Sander leads an active lifestyle, engaging in various physical fitness and wellness activities. As a water sports enthusiast, he enjoys playing water polo during his leisure time. Alongside water polo, Sander embraces the discipline of crossfit, constantly pushing himself to new limits and maintaining peak physical condition. Additionally, he finds solace and adventure in open water swimming, appreciating the opportunity to connect with nature. Alongside his wife, Ligia, and their three children, Arthur, Oliver, and Ella, Sander is delighted to bask in Bali's sun and call the island their new home.
