A series of wins showcasing outstanding directing, acting, and technical achievements in the global film industry

The 97th Academy Awards, held at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, made history with a sweeping victory for Anora. Directed by Sean Baker, the film took home five prestigious awards, including Best Original Screenplay, Film Editing, Best Director, and Best Picture—four of which were won directly by Baker. Adding to its success, Mikey Madison earned the Best Actress award for her role in Anora.

In the Best Actor category, Adrien Brody claimed the Oscar for his performance in The Brutalist. The supporting acting awards went to Kieran Culkin for A Real Pain and Zoe Saldaña for Emilia Pérez. Emilia Pérez also won Best Original Song for El Mal.

The Brutalist secured two additional wins: Best Cinematography for Lol Crawley and Best Original Score for Daniel Blumberg. Meanwhile, Dune: Part Two strengthened its reputation for technical excellence by winning Best Visual Effects and Best Sound.

The production and costume design categories saw Wicked triumph, earning awards for Best Production Design and Best Costume Design. The Substance claimed the Best Makeup and Hairstyling award.

In the screenplay categories, Peter Straughan won Best Adapted Screenplay for Conclave, while Sean Baker added another win to his tally with Anora for Best Original Screenplay. Baker also took home the Best Film Editing award, further cementing his influence at this year’s Oscars.

Beyond the major films, the short film and documentary categories also received well-deserved recognition. I'm Not a Robot won Best Live-Action Short Film, while The Only Girl in the Orchestra secured Best Documentary Short. No Other Land claimed the Best Documentary Feature award. In the animation category, Flow was named Best Animated Feature, while In the Shadow of the Cypress won Best Animated Short Film.

Rounding out the night, the award for Best International Feature Film went to I'm Still Here, highlighting the global diversity of this year’s winners.
