MELATI TEDJA SHINES AT MISS CHARM 2024, SHOWCASING INDONESIA'S CULTURAL ELEGANCE ON THE WORLD STAGE
Radiating charm and pride through elegance, dedication, and courage
Melati Tedja, Puteri Indonesia for Education and Culture 2024, captivated audiences during the grand final of Miss Charm 2024. She became the center of attention in a stunning silver gown designed with elegance and profound meaning. The gown, adorned with shimmering beadwork, a daring high slit, and a design symbolizing the courage and grace of modern women, reflected Melati's confident and principled personality. The silver hue represented purity and strength, and every step she took on stage conveyed messages of hard work, bravery, and dedication, making her an inspiration to many.
Melati Tedja was the first representative of Yayasan Puteri Indonesia (YPI) to compete in Miss Charm, and her performance earned remarkable recognition. She successfully secured a place in the Top 6 Miss Charm 2024, standing alongside finalists from Malaysia, Australia, Vietnam, Colombia, and Mexico. Additionally, Melati won the special award for “Best Social Media,” celebrating her creativity in promoting Indonesian culture through digital platforms.
Elegant Appearance in the Evening Gown
One of the most memorable moments was Melati’s appearance in a red gown named “Truntum Sanchita” during the evening gown session. Created by renowned designer Jacob Wil, this masterpiece was not only visually stunning but also rich in philosophical meaning. The batik truntum motif adorning the gown symbolized unconditional and eternal love, while the train design, inspired by the stupas of Borobudur Temple, represented the grandeur and wisdom of Indonesian culture.
Intricate leaf-shaped crystal embellishments on the gown harmonized with the Miss Charm crown design, symbolizing passion, prayer, and hope. The deep red shimmer of the crystals added a majestic touch, making the gown a symbol of strength and elegance.
Dazzling in the National Costume
In the National Costume session, Melati once again stole the spotlight in a costume titled “Sang Pembatik.” This ensemble was a collaborative creation by Jessie Gunawan, Jember Fashion Carnival, and Mastermind by Bubah Alfian. Highlighting the art of batik, the costume celebrated Indonesia’s rich cultural heritage on the global stage.
The batik parang motif on the costume symbolized bravery and perseverance, while the kawung motif reflected wisdom and simplicity. "Sang Pembatik" became a powerful representation of Indonesia’s traditional values and demonstrated how the art of batik remains relevant in modern times.
Inspiring the Younger Generation
Melati Tedja’s participation in Miss Charm 2024 was not merely about beauty but also about her mission to bring Indonesian culture to the international stage. Her graceful performance in every session reflected hard work, dedication, and pride in her national identity.
Melati has proven that Indonesian women can compete and shine on the world stage, inspiring the younger generation to dream big and take pride in their cultural heritage.
