Chelsea FC VS AC Milan are set to clash at Gelora Bung Karno Stadium in Jakarta for an exciting European football showdown.

The last time a Chelsea squad landed in Jakarta, tens of thousands of fans lined the streets from the airport to the city. That was 2013. On August 8, 2026, Chelsea returns to Gelora Bung Karno for a pre-season fixture against AC Milan, and this time the occasion carries a distinction that neither club has ever achieved in Southeast Asia before.

Why Chelsea FC vs AC Milan at GBK 2026 Is a Landmark Fixture

The fixture comes 13 years after Chelsea's first-ever visit to Indonesia. On that occasion, the squad received one of the most passionate welcomes ever for a touring Chelsea side, with tens of thousands of fans at the airport and lining the route into the city. Over 80,000 supporters were inside GBK when Chelsea beat an Indonesia All-Stars side 8-1, with Eden Hazard and John Terry among the scorers.

For AC Milan, the Jakarta stop represents a return to Indonesia for the first time since 1994, when they played against Persib Bandung and the Surabaya Selection. Indonesia is the third country worldwide for number of AC Milan supporters, with 40 million according to Nielsen data, and ranks first globally for engagement across the club's digital platforms.

In their official statement, AC Milan described Indonesia as a place where the Rossoneri feel at home more than 11,000 kilometres from Milan. That is not marketing language. That is a fanbase of 40 million people who have been waiting 32 years for this moment.

AC Milan return to Indonesia for the first time since 1994. Thirty-two years between visits. One match to account for all of it.

The Jakarta match is part of Chelsea's broader 2026 pre-season Asia and Australasia tour, which also includes fixtures against Western Sydney Wanderers at Accor Stadium in Sydney on July 28, and against Juventus at Kai Tak Stadium in Hong Kong on August 5.

Tickets for the match are available through GOERS, with categories including VIP Barat, VIP Timur, Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3. Sales were divided into three phases: Early Bird on May 6, Presale from May 7 to 9, and Regular sale thereafter. Premium categories including Royal Box, Sky Box, Royal Lounge, and VVIP are available through special reservation.

GBK seats 82,000. In 2013, every one of those seats was filled for Chelsea. The question for August 8 is not whether the stadium will sell out. It is whether the atmosphere will match the one that both clubs are already calling historic.
