FFI 2025: CITRA AWARD NIGHT HONORS THE DIVERSITY AND ACHIEVEMENTS OF INDONESIAN CINEMA

A glittering night honoring Indonesia’s finest filmmakers, celebrating creativity, diversity, and cinematic excellence

The grand night of the Citra Awards at the 2025 Indonesian Film Festival (FFI) was successfully held on Thursday, 20 November 2025, at Teater Jakarta, Taman Ismail Marzuki, Central Jakarta. The prestigious event was attended by distinguished guests, including the Indonesian Minister of Culture Fadli Zon and Jakarta Deputy Governor Rano Karno. Filmmakers from across the country gathered once again to celebrate the outstanding works that have shaped Indonesian cinema over the past year.

Competition this year was intense, with strong contenders across multiple categories. Pengepungan di Bukit Duri emerged as a highlight, winning five awards from twelve nominations. The film received Best Supporting Actor for Omara Esteghlal, Best Cinematography for Ical Tanjung, Best Visual Effects, Best Makeup, and Best Original Score awarded to Aghi Narotama.

Meanwhile, Pangku took home the Best Feature Film award. The production earned four Citra Awards, including Best Original Screenplay for Reza Rahadian and Felix K. Nessi, Best Supporting Actress for Christine Hakim, and Best Production Design for Eros Eflin. These accolades cemented Pangku’s status as one of the most notable films of FFI 2025.

Sore: Istri dari Masa Depan also made a strong impression with four wins. The film earned Best Director for Yandy Laurens, Best Actress for Sheila Dara Aisha, Best Editing for Hendra Adhi Susanto, and Best Theme Song for “Terbuang Dalam Waktu.”

The acting categories offered memorable moments as well. Ringgo Agus Rahman won Best Actor for his role in Panggil Aku Ayah, while Sheila Dara Aisha reinforced her remarkable year with the Best Actress award.

FFI 2025 showcased not only feature films but also celebrated excellence in documentaries, animation, and short films. Tambang Emas Ra Ritek was named Best Feature Documentary, while Sie won Best Short Documentary. In animation, Jumbo earned Best Animated Feature, and So I Pray took Best Animated Short. The Best Short Film award went to Sammi, Who Can Detach His Body Parts.

Special recognitions honored figures who have made lasting contributions to Indonesian cinema. El Manik, Franki Raden, and Hendrik Gozali received Lifetime Achievement awards in recognition of their dedication. Audience Choice awards were given to Leya Princy as Favorite Actress, El Putra Sarira as Favorite Actor, and Rangga & Cinta as Favorite Film. Jumbo also received the Antemas Award for the highest-grossing film of the year.

Since its founding in 1955, the Indonesian Film Festival has remained the nation’s premier platform for celebrating cinematic achievements. With the theme “Puspawarna of Indonesian Cinema,” FFI 2025 highlighted the diversity of creative works and the cultural richness portrayed on screen. Through its awards, FFI continues to reflect the growth, creativity, and dedication of Indonesian filmmakers, strengthening the quality and influence of national cinema.
