A vibrant experience where heritage comes alive through music, art, unity, and cultural spirit

The Minangkabau Festival in Tanah Datar Regency returns as a cultural celebration that brings the region’s traditions and heritage to life. With Istano Basa Pagaruyung as its icon and center of festivity, the festival serves as a place to enjoy the richness of performing arts, local crafts, and authentic Minangkabau cuisine filled with flavor and meaning. Through performances such as alua pasambahan, silek Minangkabau, randai, and other cultural showcases, visitors are invited to explore the deep-rooted philosophy of Minang customs passed down across generations.

In 2025, Festival Pesona Minangkabau will be held from 4 to 6 December at Istano Basa Pagaruyung and Lapangan Cindua Mato in Batusangkar. This prestigious event is part of the Kharisma Event Nusantara 2025 program initiated by the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy of the Republic of Indonesia. More than a stage for cultural celebration, it also acts as a platform to strengthen the presence of Minangkabau identity at national and international levels.

A series of activities has been prepared to enliven the three day event. Visitors can enjoy the Cultural and Creative Economy Parade, Minangkabau Art Performances, and the Tourism Village and UMKM Exhibition. Makan Bajamba, a traditional communal dining tradition that symbolizes togetherness, will be one of the most anticipated highlights. There will also be tourism talk shows, traditional children’s games, and a heritage exhibition that offers visitors a meaningful historical experience.

For photography and culinary enthusiasts, the festival also presents a Minangkabau Culinary Market and the Pesona Tanah Datar Photo Competition. These programs provide new opportunities for tourists to enjoy traditional dishes while capturing cultural moments creatively. The creative economy and UMKM exhibition further provides a platform for local entrepreneurs to showcase their best products to a wider audience.

Festival Pesona Minangkabau takes place daily from 08.00 to 17.30 WIB, and all activities will be streamed live on the Tanahdatar TV YouTube channel for those who cannot attend in person. With strong support from the local government and the active involvement of the community, the festival is expected to contribute positively to tourism growth and strengthen the creative economy in Tanah Datar.

More than a cultural celebration, Festival Pesona Minangkabau is a moment to preserve the noble values of Luhak Nan Tuo while introducing the beauty of Tanah Datar to the world.
