Dua Lipa, the internationally acclaimed British-Albanian pop singer, was scheduled to perform an extraordinary concert as part of her Radical Optimism Tour in Jakarta on November 9, 2024. The concert, which was set to take place at the Indonesia Arena in Senayan, promised an electric atmosphere with a captivating stage performance and hit songs from her latest album. Known for her distinctive voice and charismatic stage presence, Dua Lipa had planned to greet her Indonesian fans by performing popular tracks like New Rules, Don't Start Now, and Levitating, while delivering the core message of optimism central to the tour. However, less than 24 hours before the concert was set to begin, an announcement came from Dua Lipa and the promoters. The highly anticipated concert was unfortunately canceled due to safety concerns. In a statement on X (formerly Twitter), Dua Lipa expressed, "I am here in your wonderful country and was so ready to perform, but it is with great sadness that I must inform you that the concert will not go ahead due to safety issues with the stage." The cancellation decision followed the assessment that the stage constructed at Indonesia Arena did not meet the necessary safety standards for such a large event.

PK Entertainment and TEM Presents, the promoters working together on the concert, also confirmed the cancellation, emphasizing the importance of ensuring the safety of everyone involved. Mata Elang Productions later issued a clarification via their official Instagram account, apologizing for the inconvenience experienced by fans and reaffirming their commitment to improving service quality for future events. In the post, they highlighted that the production team had worked diligently to ensure the safety of the event and had obtained a structural safety certificate from certified engineers experienced in handling major international events in Indonesia. However, Dua Lipa's tour team felt that the safety standards were not fully met.

Despite the concert being canceled, Dua Lipa's return to Jakarta still brings excitement to her fans who had long awaited her live performance. Dua Lipa previously performed in Jakarta in 2017 at We The Fest and again in 2019 for the anniversary of an Indonesian e-commerce company. Her love and gratitude for her Indonesian fans were evident when she shared her disappointment on social media. Fans continue to hope for the chance to witness the pop star's concert in the future.
