DIENG CALDERA RACE 2025 RETURNS WITH CHALLENGING TRAILS AND SCENIC VIEWS

Embark on an epic adventure across towering peaks and volcanic trails

The Dieng Highlands will once again host one of the most anticipated international trail running events: Dieng Caldera Race 2025. Taking place from June 20 to 22, 2025, at Tambi Tea Resort in Wonosobo, Central Java, this fourth edition of the race continues to draw attention not only from athletes but also from tourism and nature enthusiasts. The event has established itself as a prominent symbol of Indonesia’s sport tourism and ecotourism scene.

Set against a backdrop of breathtaking mountains and rugged terrain, Dieng Caldera Race presents the perfect opportunity for participants to test their physical limits while experiencing a spiritual connection with nature. This year, over 1,800 runners from 21 countries have registered, ready to take on challenging routes that pass through misty hills, lush tea plantations, and active volcanic craters—signature elements of the Dieng landscape.

Participants can choose from four race categories: the Ultra Trail 85K on June 21 at 5:00 AM, featuring over 6,030 meters of elevation gain and a cut-off time of 26 hours; the Ultra Trail 45K on June 21 at 5:30 AM, with 2,650 meters of elevation gain and a 15-hour cut-off; the Trail 25K on June 22 at 5:30 AM, covering 1,360 meters of elevation gain with a 9-hour cut-off; and the Fun Trail 10K on June 22 at 6:00 AM, offering a more accessible route with 495 meters of elevation gain and a 5-hour cut-off time.

The 85K course is the main attraction, pushing runners to their limits as they cross the peaks of Mount Bismo, Mount Sibuthak, Mount Si Kendil, and the towering Mount Sindoro, which stands above 3,000 meters. Along this route, participants will be rewarded with awe-inspiring views and an intimate encounter with the wonders of nature.

Dieng Caldera Race is more than just a physical challenge. It embraces the values of ecotourism and environmental awareness. Officially listed in the UTMB Index and awarding ITRA Points, the event serves as a gateway for Indonesian trail runners seeking to compete on the international stage.

The impact of the race extends beyond the trails. The influx of participants and visitors significantly boosts the local economy. Around 25 micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) will showcase Wonosobo’s culinary specialties, handicrafts, and other regional products, creating a vibrant marketplace.

Local communities are also actively involved in making the event a cultural celebration. Youth groups, village organizations, and cultural activists from Tambi and nearby areas will present traditional dance performances, cultural exhibitions, and village festivals. The hospitality of the locals combined with the natural beauty of the region leaves a lasting impression on all who attend.

Dieng Caldera Race 2025 is not just a running event. It is a journey through mountain mist, a chance to connect deeply with nature, and a celebration of the human spirit amid the timeless charm of the highlands.
