The Indonesia National Gallery presents Semesta Arkiv, one of Jakarta’s largest contemporary art exhibitions, officially opened on Friday, February 21, 2025. Featuring over 100 works by artist Arkiv Vilmansa, this exhibition is a collaboration between the National Gallery, Studio Arkiv, and Zen1 Gallery. Spanning four buildings, it stands as one of the most extensive installations ever held at the National Gallery.

Where Art, Philosophy, and Imagination Intersect

Curated by Rizki A Zaelani, Semesta Arkiv goes beyond a traditional art exhibition—it is an immersive exploration of philosophy and imagination. Inspired by the ideas of Friedrich Nietzsche, Arkiv Vilmansa creates artworks that engage in a dialogue between art and contemporary reality.

Through bold colors, imaginative characters, and a multidisciplinary approach, the exhibition showcases art as a bridge between tradition, technology, and the future. More than just a visual experience, Semesta Arkiv celebrates the ocean, colors, and artistic collaboration, inviting visitors to not only observe but also feel the freedom of creative expression.

Iconic Installations and Unique Collaborations

The exhibition is divided into five main themes, each offering a distinct perspective on Arkiv’s artistic vision. One of the most captivating pieces is Widya Segara, a giant whale balloon installation symbolizing humanity’s connection to the sea. Another highlight is Metaphor of Memory, featuring Arkiv’s iconic character, Mickiv, a signature symbol of his artistic journey.

In addition to his solo works, Arkiv collaborates with renowned Indonesian artists such as Sunaryo, Darbotz, Erwin Windu Pranata, and Mulyana (Mangmoel). These collaborations bring a fresh perspective to contemporary art, offering visitors a visually dynamic and inspiring experience.

Running until May 11, 2025, Semesta Arkiv is open daily from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM WIB. Ticket prices are IDR 25,000 for children and IDR 50,000 for adults.
