MARRIOTT INTERNATIONAL APPOINTS BRIAN POVINELLI AS SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT, GLOBAL HEAD OF MARKETING AND BRAND
Marriott International, Inc. (Nasdaq:MAR) has announced the appointment of Brian Povinelli as Senior Vice President, Global Head of Marketing and Brand.
In his new role, Povinelli will lead the company's marketing strategy and oversee the end-to-end guest experience for Marriott's 22 Premium, Select & Longer-stay brands.
Peggy Roe, Executive Vice President and Chief Customer Officer, expressed enthusiasm about Povinelli's appointment, stating, "We're excited to bring Brian's strategic prowess, creativity, and proven track record of designing transformative and world-class marketing and guest experience programs to this new role." Roe added, "Adding guest experience to his role will ensure every consumer touchpoint is thoughtfully and effectively imagined and executed."
With his extensive experience in the hotel industry, Povinelli is well-equipped to take on this expanded role. He will lead a diverse range of teams, including Content Marketing, Loyalty Marketing, Portfolio Marketing, Purpose Driven Marketing, US and Canada Demand Generation Marketing, Marketing Partnerships, Premium & Select Service Brand Marketing, and Brand Management and Riott Haus, Marriott's internal creative agency.
Expressing his excitement about the opportunity, Povinelli said, "Having led both marketing and guest experience over the past sixteen years in the hotel industry, I welcome the opportunity to lead an integrated team to orchestrate an end-to-end guest experience." He emphasized Marriott's goal of becoming a complete travel marketplace that delivers transformative travel experiences across various offerings, including hotels, vacation rentals, cruises, and Marriott Bonvoy Moments.
Povinelli joined Marriott in 2016 after the acquisition of Starwood Hotels. He initially served as Senior Vice President, Global Brand Leader for the Distinctive Premium Brand Group before taking on the role of Senior Vice President, Global Brand, Portfolio, and Loyalty Marketing.
Prior to his tenure at Marriott, Povinelli spent a decade with Starwood Hotels, contributing to the repositioning and growth of brands such as Westin, Sheraton, and Le Meridien. Before that, he held leadership positions in advertising and marketing at Reebok and various advertising agencies in the US and London.
Brian Povinelli will continue to be based at Marriott International's headquarters in Bethesda, MD, as he assumes his new position as Senior Vice President, Global Head of Marketing and Brand.
