CZECH REPUBLIC EXPRESSES INTEREST IN STRENGTHENING HUMAN RIGHTS COLLABORATION WITH INDONESIA

The event celebrated the rich traditions of both nations, fostering cultural exchange with great enthusiasm and joy.

On October 27, 2023, the Czech Embassy in Indonesia hosted the Czech National Day Celebration, during which the Czech Republic expressed its interest in forging a collaborative effort with Indonesia to bolster the enforcement of Human Rights (HR). This interest stems from Indonesia's recent election as a member of the Human Rights Council for the 2024-2026 term.

His Excellency Mr. Jaroslav Dolecek, the Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Indonesia, conveyed his appreciation to Indonesia, recognizing its significant achievement of being elected as a Human Rights Council member for the 2024-2026 term in the United Nations General Assembly. He emphasized that, much like Indonesia, the Czech Republic is deeply committed to upholding human rights. His statement articulated the Czech Republic's aspiration to collaborate with Indonesia on a global scale in strengthening human rights.

H.E. Jaroslav expressed optimism that cooperation between the two countries would proceed smoothly. He highlighted the Czech Republic's successful tenure as the President of the European Union in 2022 and Indonesia's accomplishments as the Chair of the G-20 in 2022 and the Chair of ASEAN in 2023. He underscored the significance of these achievements on both regional and global levels.

The vote at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, USA, on October 11 saw Indonesia garnering 186 out of 192 votes from UN member states present. Indonesia's current focus lies in enhancing its global capacity for HR protection, intensifying HR dialogues on global and regional stages, and reinforcing the implementation of universal human rights values.

Additionally, H.E. Jaroslav highlighted the potential for the strengthening of diplomatic ties in various other areas as both countries celebrate their 78th anniversary in 2023. These areas encompass climate change, sustainable development, food security, cybersecurity, and environmental protection. Industries such as defense, civil aviation, natural resource processing, and digitalization offer promising opportunities for contributing to the development of Indonesia's New Capital City in Kalimantan.

The evening's highlight featured an address by H.E. Mr. Alue Dohong, the Vice Minister of Environment and Forestry of the Republic of Indonesia. Mr. Dohong's speech emphasized the importance of cultural exchange and friendship between nations, highlighting the strong bonds connecting the Czech Republic and Indonesia. The event celebrated the rich traditions of both nations, fostering cultural exchange with great enthusiasm and joy.
