WIC ANNUAL CHARITY BAZAAR 56TH EDITION: CELEBRATING HARMONY, CULTURE AND SOCIAL CARE
An international gathering reflecting cultural unity and global compassion through creativity and meaningful action
The Women’s International Club Jakarta held the 56th WIC Annual Charity Bazaar on 19–20 November 2025 at the Jakarta International Convention Center. This year, WIC partnered with the Provincial Government of South Kalimantan to present the theme South Kalimantan: The Soul of Borneo, which highlighted the region’s cultural richness, creativity and warm hospitality. The event was officially opened on Wednesday, 19 November 2025, by the Second Lady of the Republic of Indonesia, Selvi Gibran Rakabuming, who expressed her appreciation for the women contributing to the bazaar’s organization.
Nazneen Khubchandani, President of WIC Jakarta, shared her hope that this annual event will continue to symbolize hope, harmony and humanity for the wider community. The bazaar reflects WIC’s ongoing commitment to supporting education and social welfare programs for underprivileged groups in the Jakarta area. With a history spanning more than 70 years, WIC has long served as a collaborative space for Indonesian and expatriate women to engage in volunteer work, particularly through fundraising efforts like the Annual Charity Bazaar.
In her remarks, Selvi Gibran highlighted the essential role of women in many aspects of life. She noted that women are not only noble and skilled but also possess insight and abilities that significantly contribute to social and economic progress. Her message served as encouragement for WIC members and participants, most of whom are women from diverse backgrounds.
The opening ceremony was also attended by the Governor of South Kalimantan, H. Muhidin, and his wife, Hj. Fathul Jannah Muhidin, reaffirming the province’s strong support as this year’s main host. The ceremony featured Baksa Kambang, a traditional dance from South Kalimantan that reflects the beauty of Banua’s natural landscapes, cultural elegance and vibrant community life.
The bazaar welcomed 41 embassies, Indonesian MSMEs and international women’s organizations from Asia to Europe. Participants presented a wide selection of products, including traditional cuisine, handicrafts, fashion and creative items representing each country’s identity. Following the opening, Selvi Gibran toured several booths such as South Kalimantan, Slovakia, Jordan, Chile, the United Kingdom, Palestine, Singapore, the Netherlands and Sudan, and also spoke with the Ambassador of Palestine to Indonesia, Zuhair Al-Shun.
The WIC Annual Charity Bazaar 2025 is expected to serve as a platform for cultural and economic diplomacy that strengthens international relations while delivering meaningful social benefits to communities in need. The event reaffirms that collaboration, compassion and the contributions of women continue to play an essential role in building a better future.
