BELMOND DEBUTS AT ART SG 2026 WITH CULTURAL PROJECTS BRIDGING ART, TRAVEL, AND STORYTELLING

A refined encounter where creativity, culture, and immersive experiences unfold through a slower, more thoughtful perspective

Belmond is making its first appearance at ART SG, Singapore’s largest international art fair, held from January 23 to 25, 2026, with a preview and vernissage on January 22. This debut marks a significant step in the brand’s evolving cultural direction, bringing together contemporary art, photographic publishing, and visual storytelling that reflect Belmond’s signature philosophy of slow luxury.

At the fair, visitors are encouraged to pause and engage with the experience at a measured pace. Through a series of thoughtfully curated presentations, Belmond invites audiences to immerse themselves in an atmosphere of calm and reflection. This approach reinforces the brand’s view of travel as more than reaching a destination, but as a meaningful journey shaped by culture, creativity, and human connection.

A central highlight of the Belmond booth is a special presentation of 500 Brushstrokes for Peru by Chinese contemporary artist Wu Jian’an. Created through a close collaboration between Belmond and the artist, the project involved local communities across different regions of Peru. Drawing inspiration from Chinese calligraphy, paper-cutting, and collage, the artwork brings together nearly 500 individual brushstrokes contributed by participants from the coast, the highlands, and the Amazon, forming a shared expression of place and cultural exchange.

The work grew out of Wu Jian’an’s extensive travels across Peru in 2023 and 2024. During this journey, he stayed at several Belmond properties, including Monasterio, Sanctuary Lodge, Río Sagrado, and Miraflores Park, and traveled aboard the Andean Explorer. Each destination became a space for dialogue with local communities and helped shape the collaborative spirit that defines the artwork.

Alongside the visual presentation, Belmond is screening the director’s cut of a documentary that follows Wu Jian’an’s journey through Peru. Directed by Luo Yunfei, the film offers a sensitive portrayal of both the artistic process and the human stories behind the collaboration.

Belmond also presents a curated selection from its photographic publishing collections, highlighting publishing as an essential extension of its cultural storytelling. These include As Seen By with RVB Books, Recipes & Wanderings with Apartamento, and Legendary Destinations with Assouline. Among the most recent releases is Peru: An Odyssey Across a Time-Honoured Land, launched in November 2025 to mark 25 years of Belmond’s presence in Peru.

Through its debut at ART SG at Marina Bay Sands Expo, Belmond reaffirms its commitment to cultural programs grounded in lived experience. By bringing together art, publishing, and narrative, the brand continues to explore the idea of place through a thoughtful and enduring creative perspective.
