"SAVE OUR WORLD” MUSIC VIDEO BY SBY AND 35 INDONESIAN MUSICIANS PROMOTES ENVIRONMENTAL AWARENESS

A groundbreaking harmony of voices and sounds delivers an inspiring call to protect Earth’s future

The 6th President of the Republic of Indonesia, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY), returned to the public spotlight, not through a speech or press conference, but with a work of art. On the evening of July 1, 2025, SBY officially released the music video Save Our World, created in collaboration with 35 Indonesian musicians from various generations, at the Ballroom of Djakarta Theatre XXI, Central Jakarta.

Save Our World carries a long history. SBY wrote the song in 2010 after attending the International Conference on Climate Change and Forest Preservation in Oslo, Norway. Moved by urgent environmental issues, he expressed his concerns about the planet’s future through its lyrics and melody. The song was previously released in two versions: the Indonesian version, Untuk Bumi Kita, performed by Sandhy Sondoro, and the English version, performed by American singer Jeffrey Pescetto.

More than a decade later, the song was revived with a fresh arrangement by acclaimed Indonesian musician and composer Tohpati. The visual production was handled by DossGuava XR Studio, a Jakarta-based virtual film production company. The project blends music and technology in a refreshing way while delivering a strong message about environmental preservation.

The collaboration united musicians from different eras and genres. From Indonesia’s golden generation of music came the late Titiek Puspa, Ernie Djohan, Titiek Sandhora, Vina Panduwinata, Yuni Shara, and Ita Purnamasari. From the younger generation, the lineup featured Saykoji, Tantri Kotak, Andy /rif, Ariyo Wahab, Joy Tobing, Sandhy Sondoro, Cakra Khan, Novia Bachmid, along with other jazz and rock artists. This diversity created a unique harmony, blending pop, rock, jazz, dangdut, and rap into one composition.

More than just a musical project, Save Our World is an artistic campaign initiated by The Yudhoyono Institute to raise public awareness—especially among the younger generation—about the importance of protecting the planet. Using a creative approach, the campaign aims to deliver its environmental message in a way that resonates deeply, beyond formal campaigns or posters, by reaching people through a medium that touches the heart.

SBY and his fellow collaborators hope the project inspires real action, starting with simple steps such as disposing of waste properly, planting trees, and supporting other preservation efforts. The full Save Our World music video is now available on SBY’s official YouTube channel, allowing the message to reach audiences not only across Indonesia but also around the world.

Through Save Our World, music becomes a universal language that bridges generations, unites diverse backgrounds, and conveys a vital message: saving the Earth is a shared responsibility, and every action, no matter how small, can have a meaningful impact on the future.
