TOUR DE BANYUWANGI IJEN 2025 SET TO TACKLE CHALLENGING ROUTES IN THE LAND OF THE RISING SUN OF JAVA

An exceptional blend of athletic endurance, extreme routes, and tropical beauty that makes every ride unforgettable

Tour de Banyuwangi Ijen (TDBI) 2025 will return from July 28 to 31, promising to be a major highlight in the international cycling calendar. As part of the official schedule of the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) under category 2.2, this prestigious event marks its tenth edition since it was first held in 2012. Over the years, it has grown into one of the most prominent cycling competitions in Indonesia and a key event in the UCI Asia Tour.

The official opening ceremony is scheduled for July 28 at the Banyuwangi Regent’s Office in East Java. This year’s race will feature 20 teams from around the world, including 14 international teams from Japan, South Korea, China, Saudi Arabia, Algeria, and Italy. Six Indonesian teams will also take part, ready to challenge their international rivals. The Swatt Club Racing Team from Italy was the final team to confirm its participation.

Throughout the four-day event, riders will race across a variety of landscapes and pass through some of Banyuwangi’s most scenic and iconic destinations. From coastlines to mountain ranges, the course offers a diverse and challenging terrain. The competition consists of four stages, with a total distance of 608 kilometers, designed to test each cyclist’s strength, strategy, and endurance.

The first stage spans 143 kilometers, starting from Mustika Pancer Beach and finishing at the Banyuwangi Regent’s Office. The second stage is the longest at 165 kilometers, beginning in Alas Purwo National Park and ending at the same location. Known for its rolling hills, this stage demands exceptional stamina from the participants.

Stage three covers 145 kilometers with both the start and finish located at Glenmore Public Green Space. The fourth and final stage, known as the queen stage, presents the most demanding challenge. Covering 155 kilometers from RTH Maron, this stage features two steep climbs in Songgon and Ijen. The final ascent to Paltuding Ijen is classified as Hors Categorie (HC), the highest level of difficulty in cycling, with an elevation above 1,500 meters and peak gradients exceeding 30 percent.

With its tough routes and spectacular scenery, Tour de Banyuwangi Ijen 2025 is not just a sporting competition but also a showcase of Banyuwangi’s natural beauty and tourism appeal. The strong support from the local government and enthusiastic public makes TDBI one of Indonesia’s leading sport tourism events with growing international recognition.
