THE SPIRIT OF MOROCCO-INDONESIA FRIENDSHIP ECHOED IN THE 26TH CORONATION ANNIVERSARY OF KING MOHAMMED VI
An expression of shared intent, mutual respect, and the ongoing strength of a trusted relationship
The celebration of the 26th anniversary of King Mohammed VI’s coronation brought a strong sense of diplomacy and friendship to life at the Hotel Borobudur in Jakarta on July 31, 2025. Hosted by the Embassy of the Kingdom of Morocco, the event gathered ambassadors from Morocco’s partner countries, representatives of the Indonesian government, and other distinguished guests for an evening marked by warmth and lively conversation.
More than just a national celebration, the occasion also reaffirmed the growing strategic partnership between Morocco and Indonesia. In his official remarks, Chargé d’Affaires Mohammed Faouzi Touiger extended Morocco’s respect and appreciation to the President of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto. He highlighted the belief that President Prabowo’s leadership has elevated Indonesia’s global presence and opened new pathways for stronger bilateral cooperation.
Touiger also underscored the significance of the Strategic Partnership Agreement signed in Rabat in December 2023. This agreement marked a key milestone in the relationship between the two countries and outlined collaboration across vital sectors such as agriculture and food security, infrastructure and renewable energy, technology and innovation, tourism and cultural exchange, and trade and investment.
The evening held added significance as it coincided with the conclusion of Ambassador Ouadiâ Benabdellah’s tenure as Morocco’s Ambassador to Indonesia. Representing the Ambassador, Touiger expressed Morocco’s continued optimism and commitment to strengthening ties with Indonesia in the years ahead.
The event was also attended by prominent figures from both the diplomatic community and the Indonesian government. Among them were Idha Widi Arsanti, Head of the Agricultural Human Resources Extension and Development Agency at the Ministry of Agriculture; Belmiro José Malate, Ambassador of Mozambique and Chair of the African Ambassadors Group; and Zuhair Alshun, Ambassador of Palestine and Chair of the Arab Ambassadors Group.
Touiger highlighted the ongoing spirit of South-South cooperation, a long-standing foundation of Morocco-Indonesia relations, particularly within platforms like the Indonesia-Africa Forum. This celebration served as a meaningful reminder of the shared values and commitment between the two countries and reinforced their joint aspirations for continued collaboration across a wide range of strategic areas.
