SWISS NATIONAL DAY 2025 CELEBRATION IN JAKARTA: A SYMBOL OF FRIENDSHIP AND COLLABORATION

An elegant moment of harmony that reflects the deep synergy between two nations through culture, dialogue, and a spirit of togetherness

The Embassy of Switzerland in Indonesia held a festive celebration of Swiss National Day 2025 on Friday evening, August 1, 2025, at AYANA Midplaza Jakarta. The event was attended by hundreds of guests from various backgrounds, including government officials, diplomatic representatives, business leaders, and members of the Swiss diaspora in Indonesia. The entire event was filled with a warm atmosphere and a strong sense of togetherness.

The Swiss Ambassador to Indonesia, Olivier Zehnder, hosted the celebration and welcomed the Minister of National Development Planning, Rachmat Pambudy, as the guest of honor. The evening opened with a captivating performance by Jane Callista, a talented young Indonesian singer and winner of the 2022 Sanremo Junior World Finals in Italy. She performed the national anthems, Swiss Psalm and Indonesia Raya, with heartfelt expression, creating an emotional moment and evoking a strong sense of national pride among the audience.

In his speech, Ambassador Zehnder reaffirmed Switzerland’s commitment to supporting Indonesia’s development agenda, not only in trade and investment but also in sustainable development, human rights, and disaster risk management. He emphasized the importance of inclusive, collaborative, and forward-looking cooperation.

“Our efforts reflect a deep respect for local aspirations and a strong belief in building resilient, inclusive, and sustainable societies together,” said Ambassador Zehnder. He added that Switzerland is ready to contribute to the success of President Prabowo’s Asta Cita programs and the Indonesia 2045 Golden Vision.

“These goals align with our core values of inclusive growth, innovation, and future-oriented collaboration,” he continued.

Ambassador Zehnder also announced the planned visit of Swiss Minister of Economic Affairs Guy Parmelin to Jakarta in October. The visit will offer a valuable opportunity to enhance economic cooperation, including the implementation of CEPA and the bilateral investment protection agreement.

Meanwhile, in his remarks, Rachmat Pambudy expressed his appreciation for the strong bilateral relationship that has existed since 1981. He stressed that Indonesia is not seeking aid, but mutually beneficial collaboration. He also highlighted potential cooperation in the food industry, using the example of Indonesia’s cocoa production and Switzerland’s excellence in chocolate making.

“Ambassador Zehnder, Switzerland is more than just a partner. Switzerland is a trusted friend. Now is the time to turn our shared ideas into real action,” said Rachmat.

“Through innovation, quality, and a spirit of collaboration, the Swiss business community continues to contribute to Indonesia’s development and to Switzerland’s global reputation,” added Zehnder.

Rachmat also welcomed the upcoming visit of Minister Parmelin, hoping it would further strengthen economic ties between the two countries.

Following the speeches by Ambassador Zehnder and Minister Pambudy, the guests raised their glasses for a toast, symbolizing friendship, accompanied by enthusiastic applause. This celebration was not only a moment of festivity but also a reinforcement of the strong foundation of diplomatic relations and strategic cooperation between Indonesia and Switzerland.
