KELILING THEATER PRESENTS

KELILING THEATER PRESENTS "MIRAH"—A MESMERIZING BLEND OF CULTURE, ART, AND MUSIC

A mesmerizing musical that showcases a legendary Betawi tale with enchanting artistry

Celebrating its 51st anniversary, Keliling Theater returns with another high-quality musical production: Mirah, set to take the stage on February 22-23, 2025, at the Grand Theater, Jakarta. This special production is a collaboration between Keliling Theater and Bina Musik Jakarta, featuring the talents of renowned musicians such as Andro Regantoro (bassist of Nidji) and Chikita Amanda (producer of Ruang Bunyi). Several songs in the performance are original compositions by the cast and Chikita Amanda, adding a fresh and unique musical dimension to the show.

Ahead of its main performance, Mirah has already generated excitement through Mini Showcases at Kuningan City Mall and PosBloc Jakarta. The enthusiastic audience reception highlights the strong anticipation for the full production. A press conference held on February 5, 2025, at Galeri Indonesia Kaya further reinforced the high expectations surrounding this event.

A Tale of Strength and Betawi Heritage

Inspired by a Betawi folktale, Mirah follows the journey of a fearless young woman from Marunda, who inherits exceptional martial arts skills from her father, Bang Bodong—a revered warrior. She makes a bold vow: she will only marry the man who can defeat her in a duel.

One day, a robbery occurs in a neighboring village, prompting Mirah and her father to intervene. During their pursuit, they encounter Asni, a skilled martial artist who is wrongly accused of the crime. To prove his innocence, Asni must track down the real culprit. If he succeeds, he will also win Mirah’s heart.

Beyond its captivating storyline, Mirah offers insight into the origins of Palang Pintu, a traditional Betawi wedding custom. Themes of courage, honor, and sincere love make this musical a meaningful and culturally rich experience.

A Collaboration of Exceptional Talent

The script for Mirah was written by Dolfry Inda Suri, who also serves as the producer, while direction is entrusted to Rudolf Puspa. Dery Sirna takes on the role of executive producer, with Haikal Ilmi Akbar as production manager, ensuring the success of the show.

Musical direction is led by Ruang Bunyi Production, with compositions by Andro Regantoro and Chikita Amanda. Vocal training for the cast is handled by Bina Musik Jakarta, founded by Julius Firdaus and Clarentia Prameta, alongside Angkasa Thulo. The choreography, blending modern and traditional dance, is crafted by Lian Saputra, Haikal Ilmi, and Galuh Agata.

Show Schedule

The Mirah musical runs on February 22-23, 2025, featuring two performances per day:

  • Tim Jawara: 2:00 PM WIB
  • Tim Pendekar: 7:30 PM WIB

With its compelling narrative, rich cultural elements, and a fusion of music, acting, and dance, Mirah is poised to be more than just a stage production—it is a celebration of Indonesian performing arts with global potential. Don’t miss this unforgettable tale of bravery, love, and tradition in an extraordinary musical experience!
