INDONESIA TOURISM XCHANGE 2026 TO FOSTER STRATEGIC DIALOGUE ON THE FUTURE OF INDONESIA’S TOURISM
Industry leaders will gather to share insights on new opportunities, traveler trends, and Indonesia’s evolving travel and hospitality landscape
Indonesia’s tourism and hospitality industry will gain a new platform for strategic dialogue with the launch of Indonesia Tourism Xchange 2026 (ITX 2026). The national forum aims to bring together hotel owners, operators, investors, and key decision-makers from across the country to explore the future direction of Indonesia’s tourism sector, which continues to expand while facing increasingly complex challenges.
ITX 2026 will take place on May 12, 2026 at The Langham, Jakarta. The event is designed to reflect the distinctive nature of Indonesia’s tourism landscape, from the vast scale of the industry and its rich cultural heritage to the wide diversity of destinations across the archipelago. The program will cover a broad spectrum of topics within the hospitality sector, including luxury and lifestyle segments, business performance, investment, technology, sustainability, and emerging development models.
The agenda will open with an overview of Indonesia’s investment climate and tourism outlook for 2026, providing important economic context for industry stakeholders. This session will set the stage for deeper discussions throughout the forum. Following this, the focus will shift to the luxury hospitality sector, where expectations from global travelers continue to evolve.
Sherona Shng, Regional Vice President Operations Asia at Langham Hospitality Group, will discuss how the concept of luxury in Indonesia is increasingly influenced by cultural awareness, personalized service, and the ability to create meaningful guest experiences. According to her, luxury travelers visiting Indonesia are not simply seeking internationally standardized hotels, but rather experiences that reflect local identity and build a strong emotional connection with the destination.
Hotel performance and market demand will also form a key part of the ITX 2026 program. An in-depth analysis will examine how hotels are performing across different markets, including resort destinations and major urban centers, as well as trends within the upper-upscale and luxury segments. Matt Gebbie, Director Pacific Asia at Horwath HTL, will present Indonesia’s tourism outlook for 2026, highlighting destinations and segments with sustainable growth potential while also identifying areas that may require a more cautious approach.
Beyond hotel operations, the forum will explore evolving ownership structures and property development strategies. One dedicated session will focus on the rising trend of standalone branded residences, which are becoming increasingly significant in Indonesia’s hospitality property landscape. The discussion will be moderated by Bill Barnett, Managing Director of C9 Hotelworks, who will outline how branded residences are now helping to drive demand for luxury real estate in several resort and lifestyle destinations across Indonesia.
The ITX 2026 program will also examine other important topics shaping the future of the industry, including hospitality technology, sustainability strategies, leadership in the sector, ownership transitions, and the growing importance of culturally grounded design. Together, these discussions reflect a broader shift in hospitality development toward more contextual and adaptive business models that respond to Indonesia’s unique geography and cultural diversity.
Indonesia Tourism Xchange 2026 is organized by Horwath HTL, C9 Hotelworks, STR, QUO Global, Greenview, and Delivering Asia, in partnership with Langham Hospitality Group. The event is also supported by the Jakarta Hotels Association, the Indonesian Hotel and Restaurant Association, and the Bali Hotels Association.
By bringing together a wide range of industry perspectives, ITX 2026 is expected to become an annual forum that provides valuable insights into market performance, investment strategies, and brand development across one of Asia’s most dynamic tourism markets.
