ART JAKARTA 2024: A VIBRANT EXPRESSION OF CONTEMPORARY ART DIVERSITY

From October 4 to 6, 2024, art lovers gathered at JIEXPO Kemayoran, Jakarta, to witness Art Jakarta 2024, a premier art fair focused on contemporary art. The event was held with great enthusiasm, showcasing 73 prominent galleries from Indonesia and various countries, including Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, the Philippines, Vietnam, China, South Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Russia, and Australia. Over the three days, visitors were treated to a stunning array of art collections.
Art Jakarta 2024 received tremendous support from various partners, including Julius Baer, UOB Indonesia, Bibit & Stockbit, and Treasury. This year, the fair expanded its offerings with a new hall, C1, in addition to the existing halls B3 and C3, allowing visitors to explore the art collections more freely.
With a larger area and more comfortable facilities, visitors enjoyed a better and more memorable exhibition experience. The interactive layouts significantly enhanced the visitor experience, making it more enjoyable to appreciate the diverse artworks on display.
Exciting Programs at Art Jakarta 2024
Art Jakarta 2024 not only featured an art exhibition but also included various engaging programs that enlivened the event atmosphere. Here are some standout programs that successfully captured visitors' attention:
- AJ SPOT: This program provided a platform for presenting special art installations designed by four outstanding artists: Iwan Yusuf, Syaiful Garibaldi, Tisna Sanjaya, and Timoteus Anggawan Kusno. Their works offered profound and touching experiences for visitors.
- AJX: This collaboration between Art Jakarta and various institutions, including ISI Denpasar (Bali), the Malaysia Pavilion (Kuala Lumpur), and the Eugene Museum (Eugene Kanagawa), successfully introduced artworks from different regions and countries, creating a stronger network within the art world.
- AJ SCENE: This segment was aimed at artist collectives, studios, and projects to present their publications, allowing artists to share the stories and creative processes behind their works.
- Play by UOB Indonesia: This program, specifically designed for children, provided them with opportunities to create under the guidance of Ni Nyoman Sani. This initiative successfully nurtured an early interest in art.
- AJ TALK: A segment featuring experts and practitioners in the art field, including Hyphen–, the National Gallery, Gang Kabel Publishers, IVAA (Indonesian Visual Art Archive), and UOB Indonesia. They shared their experiences and insights on contemporary art and the current issues faced by the art world.
